Ocean?s third and final Batman game is based on the 1989 movie starring Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Jack Nicholson in a scene stealing peformance as the evil Jack Napier/Joker.
Play through five levels of action based on scenes from the movie. Level 1 sees you going through the Axis Chemical Plant to find Jack Napier before Commissioner Gordon and his police force arrest him and in the style of the movie, send Napier into a vat full of chemicals, forcing him to become the Joker.
In Level 2, you have rescued Vicki Vale from the Joker and his thugs from the Gotham Museum and you are on your way to the Batcave while avoiding the Joker?s men and the various traffic using your batrope to make fast turns. In Level 3, you must find the antidote to the Joker?s cosmetics poision.
Level 4 sees you in the Batwing - for Gotham?s 200th Anniversary celebration, the Joker hits the streets with his thugs to dish out $2 million in cash to the public along with balloons filled with poison gas. In the Batwing, you have to cut the balloons and send them into space before they can kill innocent members of the public. In the fifth and final level, you have to go through Gotham Cathedral to rescue Vicki Vale from the Joker.
Two levels are platform action, two are driving/flying while level 3 is a small puzzle game and all these add varieity to a very good game. This was one of the few games released on cartridge for the GX4000 console aswell as tape and disc.
Graphics
MODE 0 is used here and everything is nice and detailed. The speed is also good but you don?t get likenesses of Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. Lots and lots of colour are used while all the major characters like Batman, the Joker, Batmobile and Batwing are reconisable.
Sound
Each level has a music track which is quite good. Sound effects are pretty poor though.
Gameplay
As I said earlier, three styles of game play, all of which are very easy to get into. Level 1 has restart points throughout the level while level 5, despite being very huge and hard to get through, has none.
Ocean?s final game based on the Batman licence is just as good as the previous games - download now!
