In this fourth game to feature the Freescape game engine, you are taken back to the Middle Ages as either a male or female where you have to rescue your brother/sister from a castle.

This game is bigger than it?s predecessor Total Eclipse and there are more puzzles and enemies for you to defeat. It was very popular, getting a Master Game award in Amstrad Action and spawned a sequel entitled The Crypt.

Graphics

As usual, the graphics are MODE 1 but they are detailed and make good use of colour.

There is also a very nice border surrounding the action which is also detailed. The monsters are nicely made, my favourite being the dragon type monster which features towards the end of the game.

Sound

The only sound in the game are annoying sounds where you enter a room and a monster starts to attack you. There are also sounds when you use your catapault and walk around along with falling from heights and using objects.

Gameplay

Like other Freescape games, Castle Master is easy to get into although it can be difficult.

You need a lot of patience to get through this game especially when you end up in the catacombes. You have to build up your strength in order to move certain objects to get to places. Castle Master is a big game and it has a SAVE/LOAD feature so you can save and continue where you left off.

Another brilliant game made using Freescape to add to your collection. Download at once!
