A new clearance droid has been developed to target and destroy potential threats from various zones without human life being involved, you have been chosen to control this new droid codenamed Android One.
Battle your way through wave after wave of nasty mutants and creatures clearing the way for human life.
Graphics
We reviewed the Android games in reverse order, don?t ask us why but we did. In comparison to the sequel the colours on offer in the first outing are much more varied though the graphics don?t look quite as nice or detailed as the sequel. Everything has been well presented though with nice animation and fast fluid motion, nothing causes the game to slow down and there are no bugs in the graphical coding (that we saw) that could cause the game to become unplayable.
There are also some nice graphical effects on offer such as the "lost life" effect when Android 1 is hit by an enemy, watch that screen shake and flash - very nice touches indeed. The original game is coded by a different developer (Mark Haigh Hutchinson) which might explain the different graphical approach the original game took, all in all though it?s still a fine looking game and we have seen a whole lot worse than this one.
Sound
Like the sequel the original outing doesn?t contain any theme music but offers some superb sound effects, explosions and other in-game noises to keep players happy and hooked to the action. This is certainly one game you?ll want to play with the sound turned up on your speakers or indeed your Amstrad CPC.
Gameplay
As for gameplay, well it takes the Atari 2600 classic "Berzerk" to another level. Those that have ever played Berzerk will instantly recognise the graphical style and playability of the game, simply break out of your protective room and destroy all those nasty mutants before that destroy you. It?s a lot easier than the sequel and because of this some players rate it higher, by todays standards though most classic games are much easier than you will remember them.
Once again this is one for your collections.
