A bitter duel to the death between two wizard brothers. Only one who can master the intricacies of spellcraft can hope to stand victorious.

Graphics

The graphics depict a fairly convincing medieval setting, with trees, hedges and buildings all looking as they should. Character animation can look a little awkward at times, especially on the various villagers wandering around. A little slowdown can occur when some of the more visual spells are put into play, but nothing to really detract from the gameplay itself.

The health of both yourself and your brother is portrayed by two identical images of wizards. As you take damage, your wizard will slowly sink into the ground. If you pop your clogs, a little gravestone comes up to replace you.

Sound

A nice little tune plays on the title screen and throuhout the game but cannot be turned off. Appropriate noises are made each time you or your brother collect a component or creates a spell, which can serve as a handy indicator as to what your brother is up to!

Gameplay

Placed in a quasi-medieval setting, our hero Learic the wizard must explore the nearby town and its outskirts for various weeds and flowers to use as spell components, allowing you to create all manner of weird and wonderful conjourings. Be aware however, your feuding brother, Leoric will be doing just the same thing.

Initially, a fair amount of time will probably be spent getting to know the area and where to find certain plants when you need them. Once you are armed with this knowledge however, the game really starts to shine.

The fast paced action often leads you into a race against time, trying to gather spells more potent than your brothers?, and with this comes some interesting choices. As you cannot see what your brother is up to unless you physically follow him around, do you go on the defensive and focus on protection spells? Do you go for all out aggression? Do you choose a bit of both?

There are twelve spells available to both you and your brother, and each one is useful in its? own right (with perhaps the Zombie spell being the exception) Generally you will find the most potent spells are also the most time consuming to gather their components.
