Killer Cobra is the CPC?s version of the classic shoot-em-up "Scramble". Released by Mastertronic in 1987, this game sticks to the original format of the arcade version, but is just a bit too hard!

Graphics

Graphically this game is really not too bad. There`s a nice animated screen before the menu of a Cobra Helecopter coming down the screen and fireing, plus then you get a screen telling you what each object is worth point-wise.

The game itself has some great scrolling (on WinApe, not so great on Caprice - very strange), and is nice and colourful. The sprites are nice and large and detailed and the collision detection is just right.

Sound

The sound that is there does the job well, however there is not much sound in the game and no tunes. Explosions and gun-fire is all well handled.

Gameplay

This is probably the only version of "Scamble" for the CPC, its definitly worth playing, but you will gather from the initial options of "1=Difficult 3=Impossible" that this game is not going to be easy. It lives up to its options and is a very hard game to play. The whole thing just moves too fast, although on a lucky streak you will get quite far into the game.

"Scramble" has always been a great game, and Killer Cobra is a great attempt at a conversion. Perhaps the game runs at such a fast speed to make the scrolling look a little better on the CPC?

This game is definitly worth a try and for those of you wanting to relive some great classic shoot-em-ups, then look no further.
