The battle from the first game is still going on - this time however it can?t be solved by a simple puzzling game of Chess (hehe) but rather a fully pledged strategic battle across air, land and water you must battle your opponent until the last man is standing.

It?s slightly more interesting than the first but not mutch...read on.

Graphics

As you can see from the screen grabs below it looks like Electronic Arts have pulled there thingers out of there over paid bottoms and decided to release a half good looking game on the CPC at last. There are much more colours on offer than those seen in the first offering and a fair amount of detail has been given to the characters that appear in this strange little strategy game, at first it looks very basic but soon progresses to look much better at later stages. Okay it?s not perfect but when you look at the first Archon game which could bore the fleas of a dirty dogs back with one glance it?s a big improvement.

Sound

Sound has also been improved, again it?s nothing major but the nasty tones used in the first game have been replaced with much better sounds that don?t sound like an old un-tuned TV set. There?s still no music or backing track but most people see that as a good thing in this type of game so perhaps it?s not that bad after all.

Gameplay

We at CPC Zone don?t have a massive fondness for strategy games and as such very rarely play them, for those that do enjoy this type of game and don?t easily get frustrated Archon 2 might actually be worth the download and shoving into your favourite emulator. For those that don?t like strategy games at all the obvious thing to do is to avoid it and get something else.

All you do as a player is comence battle like in the first game only this time the chess board has been replaced with an open space piece of land - it?s still turn based like todays games so don?t expect any large amounts of action to kick in at any point during play. As we said earlier it might be worth playing and because of the improvements over the first one it?s certainly a better looking and less buggy piece of software - give it a try is all we can advise on this one.
