The year is 9039 AD and the world is balanced on a knife edge between survival and destruction. The last 30 years have seen an enormous expansion of the worlds nuclear arsenal. There are now 16 superpower nuclear nations, each with the capacity to trigger the real destruction of mankind....Armageddon.

In a world were trust is created by "uncertainty of response" - the 16 superpowers form a desperate alliance - the UNN. Together they finance and build an enormous network of laser defence satelites capable of monitoring, influencing and even directly controlling the events of the world.

In this incredible new game scenario YOU have been chosen to become the next "Armageddon Man". Whether you have the neccesary diplomatic, military and tactical skills to avoid global devastation is something you, and the world are just about to find out.

Graphics

Armageddon is the type of game that if released today would have to be controlled via a mouse, as this was never heard of in the days of the Amstrad CPC it?s remarkable what Martech have done with the visual design on offer in Armageddon Man. It looks, feels and runs like the kind of mouse controlled strategy game you would find on your PC with windows popping open, options appearing left, right and center with the only difference being that you are using the keyboard instead of the mouse. Out of all the strategy games we?ve seen on the CPC it has to be said that Armageddon Man is one of the best looking and is certainly well designed - a good job indeed.

Sound

Sound is also on top form with some great introduction music from the start of the game and some nice little sound effects here and there during play, not enough to annoy the crap out of you but certainly enought to keep you happy and the volume turned up on your speakers.

Gameplay

Gameplay is as can be expected, if you like strategy games then this is a must have CPC title as it?s one of the best looking and most well designed title of this genre on the Amstrad. There are many readers that don?t find strategy games interesting and although Armageddon Man does have a great strory line and gives you the power of God over the rest of the world it?s not going to do much for those that get easily tired or bored.

Not a bad little game though and one which all strategy fans should play at some point in there gaming careers.
