The aim of the game is to rescue the four eponymous heroes - Beren, the last King of Karn, and a master swordsman; Istar the Wise, a magician; Haldir the Elf-lord, a minstrel; and Khadim the Dwarf - and remove the Shadow of Darkness from the land of Karn.
