Title: 6128 disk drive issue..
Post by: satchman2000 on 22:00, 02 December 12
I've just bought my first 6128 from eBay. Cleaned it all up and replaced the drive belt. However, it won't read disks. I get the usual 'disk missing' message, but here's the thing- it doesn't even attempt to move the drive heads. Type 'cat', hit return, error. No seeking, clicking, nothing.

I have a DD1 for my 464, so know from past woes that if the belt is knack erred it still tries to read the disk.

Could the motor be knackered?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance :)

Dave

I know this is going to sound stupid, but may as well start with the basic's...is the drive getting power.
Either from the 12v volt socket on the monitor or at the drive itself...may be a bad connection or 12v supply.

Cheers,
