Title: 6128 plus joystick/joypad wierdness
Post by: lordoftime on 17:51, 14 March 24
i have a 6128 plus and 2 464 Plus machines,  the 464 plus's work fine with joysticks and joypads but the 6128 plus with the same softwares and same joysticks and joypads do odd things like they are recieving random keypresses at the same time... someone told me it was the resistor array and to remove it but it is exactly the same without it. can anybody help please?

i have read elsewhere it is not required and can in some circumstances cause keyboard issues. as an example of the problem if i play a dizzy game or monty they game will return to the title screen or pause when pressing the joystick in certain directions.

Which version of the AY chip do you have?

And judging by our pictures ( https://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Mainboard_Versions ), there are small differences between board revisions, so your board id number and some pictures of it would help a lot diagnosing the problem.

I'd check for dry joints on the Joystick sockets first. If the machine was well used they will definitely need re-flowing.

Bryce.

Just get rid of the resistor network of the keyboard. There is a topic about this somewhere. The resistor network was not included into the CPC6128 for good reasons. Now in the case of the 6128plus the 'forgot' about it. You can just move that small black 9-pin resistor network forward and back until you get rid of it.
Then your machine will work perfectly fine.  :) :) :)
