Question, can the Amstrad CPC 6128 scart kit work with the GX4000?

The regular 6128 kit probably wont work as they have a different monitor connector to the Plus machines. A plus one should though. I don't have a GX4000 but I thought that they had a SCART connector already?

Yeh just checked it does, so basically any SCART cable should work fine?

Yes, it just needs a standard one from B&Q or wherever.

indeed. The only advantage of the monitor out is that if you use that, you only need to provide 5v not 11v.

For full RGB you need a fully wired one. So if you find one in a cupboard from years ago, if its composite only (as some VCR ones were) then you won't get RGB.

Most are fully wired however. Dig around before you buy one. Unless you chucked all your old ones out, nobody should need to buy a SCART lead!

Oh yes and bin the PSU or at least never use it. GX4000's PSU's are time bombs. Not a question of if it will fail and take the GX4000 with it, but when.

Mine did back in early 1991. And the replacement I got under warranty also did.

And then the replacement for that I got for that via an advert in AA blew, the GX survived and then I managed to blow the GX up myself.

Didn't really have much luck with them which is why I now stay well clear!

Handy information to know! My first GX4000 blew & I've been told it's irrepairable. I bought a second one but I couldn't find the original power supply my old GX4000 was using until recently & the cables were damaged. I've been using a generic power supply from my local Jaycar (electronics store). I was going to source an official replacement, but after reading this I don't think I'll bother... It's working fine with the generic PSU.

My GX4000 still works like a charm, also with C4CPC. Never had a problem at all. Never got a new PSU. But it's surely better to stay on the save side.  :)

lucky you, you now have a nice yet limited CPC464 emulator provided you purchase a power supply and the cartridge C4CPC solution that is many times more expensive than the actual console...
;)

can also run amstrad PLUS cartridges.

still worth it

Cartridges are many times more expansive than C4CPC too.  ;)

See this thread. (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/(please-read)-gx4000-with-original-power-brick-and-c4cpc/msg100194/#msg100194)

We should probably have the info in it recorded somewhere as this question comes up so often
