Title: Burning Eprom with Kernel and Basic
Post by: Phantis on 16:17, 22 March 20

I want to burn an eprom Rom to replace the ROM (40022) of my faulty Amstrad 472. I have various doubts :

1.- I understand that 472 works with Firmware OS664 and Basic Locomotive Basic 1.1. It is right ? Where can I download them?

2.- The format of the OS664 + Basic 1.1 that I have obtained is .ROM, but I have been told that to record, you can only record a file with a .ROM or .BIN extension.
I have thought to join the Firmware and the Basic in a single file with the option: "copy / b rom kernel + rom basic finish.rom". With this option will I have a correct .ROM to write to the Eprom?

3.- I know a person who can record an Eprom for me but, maybe I want to do it myself. Is it difficult to burn an Eprom? Do you recommend any special recording device?

Thanks for your patience, I am a novice

- You find the Eprom files in the wiki
- File name extensions can be changed. A ROM shall always have an exact length, f.e. 16 KB, 32 KB etc. If not, then there is something wrong with the file.
- An Eprom burner can be bought for the PC or CPC. For the PC it's cheaper and more easy.

- Firmware and BASIC will fit on one 32 KB ROM

1 - Available all over the place, but I'll add it as attachment below anyway.

2 - .ROM and .BIN are the same thing, just saved by a different program. The attachment already has both Firmware and BASIC merged together.

3 - If you want to do it yourself (via PC) then buy a TL866 from ebay: https://www.ebay.de/itm/TL866II-PLUS-Programmer-USB-EPROM-EEPROM-FLASH-BIOS-AVR-AL-PIC-High-Speed/401966717334 (https://www.ebay.de/itm/TL866II-PLUS-Programmer-USB-EPROM-EEPROM-FLASH-BIOS-AVR-AL-PIC-High-Speed/401966717334)

Sorry for the delay in reply!

- Thank you very much GUNHED has been a great help! :)

- Bryce, thank you very much for the help and the file! :

1.- The file you have attached (40022.zip) contains the: OS664 + Basic 1.1?
If I want to do it I can use the command: "copy / b kernel rom + rom basic finish.rom"?

You are great, this community of enthusiasts is a pleasure  ;)

You don't need any further file merging. The attached file is already the OS and BASIC in one file.
