Hello guys!
I was wondering if some of you managed to find a nice case for the HxC floppy emulator. I have this model:
And it is laying open next to the Plus, same as the one in the picture. I would like to make the whole setup a bit more tidy :)
Thank you!
I'd sell this on ebay or Amibay and get a cased version c from lotharek :)
The thing is that I like this one because I could mount it very easily inside a machine in the future, but it would be better to have something to put it inside for the moment :) . In the worst case, I can always model and print a case... :)
I'd buy a non-working Amiga external drive (making sure it's not one of the low-profile ones!) and put it in that. Almost no hacking required. :)
Edit: The Cumana external drive has a very nice plastic case and a full-height drive.
Bryce.
External SCSI 5,25" drive would also be good.
Certainly, the Cumana looks good, although is a bit expensive :)

The only concern I have is to destroy one of these to make a case for the HxC. For example, that one is working but the others that are listed like "For parts" are more expensive :-X
This one, although a bit indecent, seems an option

I'll check my parts box tonight and see if I have any similar cases lying about.

Thank you Bryce! :)
I don't suppose you know the exact height of the device do you?
Can you measure it so that I can be sure it would fit.
Bryce.
Sure, I will measure it with the caliper tonight but as far as I know it is like a standard 3.5" floppy drive :)
There is a similar topic: External disk drive enclosures for a SD FW Floppy Drive Emulator (http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?42171-External-disk-drive-enclosures-for-a-SD-FW-Floppy-Drive-Emulator). Can help in choosing enclosure.
Thank you so much, hsimpson!
On the other hand, I measured the unit and it is exactly as big as a normal 3.5" drive you would put in the standard 3.5" bay. I also found a PDF with the measures :)

You welcome. Alternatively, you can buy a new external drive made by Sakura: Sakura External Floppy Drive w/o floppy - RetroAmi (http://retroami.com.pl/index.php?id_product=159&controller=product&id_lang=1).
If it was compatible with the centronics port of my Plus I would do that for sure! It looks very nice and tidy!
Unfortunately, this is drive for the Amiga. This drive to connect to the Plus requires modifications.
I personally use this model HxC with Amstrad: Lotharek`s Lair (http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=18).
