Hello, I am looking for some help.
I recently got my CPC 464 and 464+ out of the attic and have tried to get them to work. My 464+ works however my 464 does not.
The 464 sometimes shows nothing on the screen, other times it does this:

I have checked the voltage from the monitor and its healthy and the red light does appear on the keyboard.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
I once had the same problem.
Then I swapped the Z80 CPU and it worked fine after.
Hi TronXP,
I 2nd that. Looks like the Z80 has failed.
Bryce.
I had a quick look on ebay for z80 chips, is there a specific one I need to look for?
thanks
For a quick test you can also try the Z80 from your 464+ ;) Just to check if it works...
Zilog Z0840004psd Z80-CPU 1 Piece With Holder Vintage Chip 8722 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zilog-Z0840004psd-Z80-CPU-1-Piece-With-Holder-Vintage-Chip-8722-/291262856566?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item43d09e7d76)
A bit expensive, but what you are looking for. Important stuff: Make sure it's a 4Mhz or 6Mhz version. NMOS ones were only 2.5Mhz. Make sure it's a Z80 CPU and not a Z80 PIO / UART / CIA or other Z80 interface chip.

Should work, too:

Didn't spot that one. Yeah, that would be fine too.

Or in TotO's shop:

Thank you very much guys for your quick response.
I shall order one up and see how it goes ;D
Much luck ;)
Probably you really should first try the Z80 from your CPC+ ;) When your 464 works fine then, order one ;)
