Title: CPC464 Data Cassette Drive?
Post by: pledg on 19:20, 26 April 20
Hi,
Been a while since I actually did anything with the data cassette on the CPC464 30+ years but am I correct in thinking/remembering that programs/coding could be saved back to a tape in the data cassette?
Therefore is it possible to record a wav file back to a cassette using the audio input mod.
Thanks.
Pledg

You can save a wav file to a tape using a standard tapedeck and use it on the 464, but if you tried to use the 464 drive to save the wav file it probably wouldn't work as the drive has some filtering that would probably filter out some of the frequencies.

If you own a 464 - the easiest and cheapest thing to do is buy one of these MP3 audio car adapter cassettes and connect it to your PC / Mac / Laptop. Then play the WAV file from there. Even MP3 of high quality bitrates works fine, but WAV is recommended.

I do advise against any of these unnecessary mods.
