Title: CTM644 strange buzzing noise on power-on
Post by: Devlin on 04:23, 25 March 11

(yes it's my first post, hello everyone!)

Very occasionally when I switch on my CTM644, usually after being left off for a while it makes a clicking/buzzing sound, I worked out that it was just static buildup on the CRT - discharging the screen with my hand stops the sound immediately.

I figure that this is not normal at all, as it's only started happening recently, should I be worried?
Details of my CPC setup are in my forum signature.

thanks for your help :)

When it sounds like the WAV file I attached here, then all is ok.
If not or if the noise remains for more than 4 seconds, it's not ok.
The problem could be a desoldered PTC, another de-soldered part or area on the monitor's pcb
or also moisture.

Sounds like moisture is the only sensible option, since I recently cleaned it. Will take apart the monitor and examine the PCB as well.

Thanks for the reply!
