I want to start experimenting with external hardware, driven by either the printer port or the expansion bus. The problem I'm having is identifying a source for the correct connectors. Can anyone help?
Cheers.
The 50way expansion connectors are extremely hard to find, and when you do they can be quite expensive. I might have one or two left that I could spare. I'll check at the weekend and let you know (but remind me via PM otherwise I'll probably forget).
For the printer port, you can use the connector from an old 5.25 floppy cable which is the correct size.

They are not that difficult to find on eBay, whether straight (https://www.ebay.com/itm/5pc-Industrial-Card-Edge-Slot-Socket-Connector-25x2P-50P-2-54mm-0-1-3A-240-50/140888533934?hash=item20cd9c6bae:g:NpYAAOSwHrVakrSB) or angled. (https://www.ebay.com/itm/5pc-Industrial-Card-Edge-Slot-Socket-Connector-25x2P-50P-2-54mm-0-1-Right-Angle/130970278382?hash=item1e7e6fd9ee:g:kxAAAMXQHeBSEH~l)
PCB mount versions are easily found, but I suspect he's looking for the IDC type for flat cable.

[ot]Dude! that's where i get/just bought mine from - Great minds think alike :D [/ot]
I'm struggling to find new 34 way edge connectors myself. Some of the prices I see on ebay are just daft.
A while ago I bought a bunch of cheap floppy cables for around £1.50 each from Maplin which have the edge connectors. So I've been ripping the edge connectors off those and crimping them onto a new flat cable with some superglue and a vice. I've been trying to get them off without breaking the plastic at the sides but finding it impossible, hence the superglue.
I ordered (and received) this (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-34-Pin-2-54-pitch-Card-Edge-Female-Crimp-IDC-Connector-for-Flat-Ribbon-Cable/32831270774.html). Is it what you are looking for?

Exactly what I'm looking for yes! If only they were uk based. I may have to order some of those soon then. Thanks :)
Is that not a 34 way connector rather than 50?

It should be very easy to remove those connectors without breaking them. Just make sure that they are slightly warm when doing it and carefully lever up the clips at each end with a small jewelers screwdriver.

Thanks, I'll give that a try :)
