Hi , Guys
Could do with some advice i want to connect my Amstrad FD-1 drive to my PC
I have access to a very old PC but was looking for a solution if there is any , i want to use CPCDiSKXP 2
to copy to amstrad discs and of course to back up quite a few amstrad discs to my computer
looking a at my mother board it doesn't look good i can only see Sata sockets could my PC not have old style floppy disc drive socket on it??
There's a guide here: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Connect_a_3_inch_drive_to_a_PC (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Connect_a_3_inch_drive_to_a_PC)
but I can't tell you much more than that, I've never tried this myself.
Bryce.
Cheers i looked at that , it looks risky too , and my motherboard is too new doesn't even have socket for floppy disc drive
Then you'll be unable to attach the 3" drive to that pc, as the driver you need (simon owen's fdrawcmd.sys) relies on the floppy controller on the motherboard.
I suggest using an old pc and attach the drive to it.
You have a 6128 don't you? Just connect a 3.5in PC drive to it, then you can write them on the PC and copy them to 3in on the CPC if it really must be 3in.

Connect a modern floppy drive to the 6128 you mean??
Exactly.
