Title: light phazer action
Post by: Lazy Dude on 20:24, 07 January 16
Just thought I'd share my woes with the community!
Having never before used the Magnum (sad I know) I purchased one with original disc and tape on the web some time ago.
So finally I decided to dig out the CRT and a spare 6128, plug in, fire up and discover the disc drive has given it up.

No problem switch to the 464 and load up the tape........
nah not happening either, duff tape?

plan C, download the dsk and burn to 3.5" floppy, by this time it was about 1am ... darn and I still not got to shoot anything......

Classic.

It's something we learn again and again and again:

There's no such thing as spending 5 minutes on something you thought would take 5 minutes.
No. Spending time on things that takes 5 minutes always takes 5 hours. It's some kind of physics law.

well I think I will fire it up and spend 5 minutes with it later today!
As much as I have a modified 6128 with lcd panel and a stable Sony floppy unit, I still would like to maintain a stock CPC in working order. So yeh the floppy drive will get looked at (another 5 mins job?)

And of course the CRT is ideal to keep the room warm in winter!

So pleased to see I'm not the only one

I can take comfort in aquiring spares from the web, and the cpc wiki has a handy pictures included guide to replacing the offending item.
It will have to wait as I need to shoot baddies with a big red button.

it's always better when a cute blonde with bxxbs can do it while monitored by a handfull of techpriests... anyway.

good luck and don't lose the "pin of death".
