Title: Looking for a replacement 464 Plus cassette door..
Post by: kbjunkie on 00:26, 22 October 20
Hey all,

I've picked up a 464 plus sans cassette door...and a space bar..

Does anyone have either of these hanging around spare that I could swap for some cash, beer, etc.?

I realise this is a long shot..

Maybe someone that's got one and is good at creating a 3D model.....

Thanks,

Kbj

If someone can send me an original I'll have a go of making a replacement with the 3D printer.

Thanks for offering Bryce!

Just got to hope that someone has one we can get a hold of for you.  These things are like hens teeth!

I'll keep a lookout for one too..

I've got a door I could send as long as I get it back!  It has no glass and the locking mechanism has never worked, I don't think thats because of the door but something to be aware of.  Maybe you could send bryce your top cover, i'll send my door and he can work it out?
Cheers Trevor

I'm more than happy to send the top cover - I'm picking up the poor mistreated 464 Plus tomorrow (a 5 and half hour drive!) but I'm getting it (working) with the colour monitor and some games..

Bryce, would you need the top cover as well as the door?

Cheers,

Mark.

Hello !
The door the cassette player of the 464 is often broken... a 3d print model will be nice and good for a lot of cpc 464 users !
How do you make it transparent like the original ?

Thanks Bryce !

The window is just a separate rectanglular piece of plexiglas. I'd only 3D print the white part. You can make the window yourself from and old CD jewel case.

Some 3D filament can be more or less transparent, so a single model could be used instead of using plexiglass ?

Definitely not. The so called transparent filament looks shit. It lets light through, but is unusable as
a window. Making it a single model would also mean that it could only be printed on dual head printers.

Right then - if tjohnson is willing to send you his door (and you don't need the top case) what do you think that the final cost would be for these Bryce?

All we need now is for tjohnson to send you his door :-)

Thanks!

Hard to say at the moment. The price depends on the weight of plastic needed and the print time. Once I've made a model I can let you know.

Hey Bryce,

Fair enough - I definitely need one :-)

Another thought occurred to me - what if I decided to design a replacement for the cassette - maybe an SD card interface.. what about designing a 3D printed module that could house it and fit in the cassette deck space?

What do you think?

There is already a cassette replacement project ongoing and it is inside a standard cassette, so no changes are needed to the cassette deck and real cassettes can still be used as far as I know.
