Title: Modified floppy drives issue
Post by: angelcaio on 15:34, 01 October 17
Hi, i have a question about my modified disk drives.
I have a 3.5" drive Samsung SDF-321B as drive A:
In it i have destroy the ds1 bridge and make it for ds0, I desoldered the  0 ohms  resistance in dc and soldered in rdy. Finally, I have connected the pins 31 and 32 interposing a switch for change the side of disk.
I have a second drive, a Mitsumi 5.25" configured as drive 1, drive select as motor on, ready and low density output with microswitch, fix for double side and double density with  Paradox 1.1 and CP/M is modified for accept it.
All its work fine excep if i select side 1 for drive  A:  and i work with drive B:
In basic return 'Read Fail. Retry, ignore or cancel'. In CP/M: error BDOS function 17 (-search for first- according http://www.seasip.info/Cpm/bdosfunc.html) for a DIR and error BDOS fuction 15 (open file) for PIP b:=a: command.
If side 0 is selected for drive A: there is not problem and it work ok with the both drives.
Any idea?. Thanks in advance.

That's completely normal. The side switch applies to both drives and a double sided disk needs to have side 0 selected to work properly. You will always have to set the switch back to side 0 to access the double sided disk.

Bryce.
