Is anyone else using an OSSC (Open Source Scan Converter) with the Amstrad ?
I've just bought one and while it generally works very well out of the box (6128+ -> SCART -> OSSC -> HDMI -> 4K display), I've had some issues with video mode changes.
For example, the CRTC3 demo seems to change screen configuration every 10 seconds or so, and the OSSC loses sync for 1-2 sec which causes a black screen and audio dropout. I've seen this in the intro of Arkanoid too (the starfield scroller)
I hope this can be fixed by forcing the OSSC to stay on certain settings, but I'm not familiar with that yet.
Any recommendations ?
Thanks

Hi Reno,
I've been using the OSSC for a few months now with a HD tv and Hauppauge Rocket.
From the manual:
"By default the OSSC takes in one scanline and outputs two, resulting in a lag free conversion of 240p to 480p. Line triple mode (Line3x) attempts to triple each scanline instead. OSSC now offers a line quadruple and quintuple mode too (hereafter referred to as Line4x and Line5x respectively). These modes can result in a very sharp image on compatible displays. Unfortunately, not every display is compatible."
I've found that straight passthru is the only option that allows the Rocket to record- anything else (all of the above) forget it.
Also certain small BASIC demos causes the OSSC to lose sync - I'm not sure why.
I've played two games - The Sentinel and Defend or Die - both work fine.
Cheers,
Peter

Yeah I'm using the linex4/x5 in some situations.I was hoping there could be a way to use some fixed presets rather than autodetection, so that the OSSC doesn't have to lose sync and figure out the new video mode for 1-2 seconds.
This has happened to me in CPC demos (again CRTC3 is a big offender) and also some Amiga demos I've just tried.
Each time there's a video (and even more annoying, audio) dropout during 1-2 seconds.
Any updates on this? Does anyone have some settings they like for OSSC? I've also had it drop out when the Amstrad switches modes. And, what's worse, it's causing RECentral on the Mac to crash when that happens and I'm recording with AverMedia LGP Lite (lovely!).
No change here I'm afraid,
I've now had time to work thru most of the menus but with the Hauppauge Rocket simple pass-thru is the only way I can record video.
Later, when my budget allows, I will be looking for another capture device and see what difference, if any, that will give.
Even with those niggles its still a great piece of kit.

Oh it totally is! I love the super-low lag. The device I'm disappointed in is the AverMedia one. That one is laggy as hell and is the one that crashes when the resolution change happens. Right now I'm capturing video using RECenter (from AverMedia) but instead of recording on it, I'm using ScreenFlow to record the whole desktop. It's a bit convoluted but it works.
