Title: Power for the 6128 Plus
Post by: nrgroom on 18:57, 31 October 13
Hi folks.

I've recently picked up various Amstrad bits and bobs, and have had great fun reliving my youth.

I've got one problem - getting power to my 6128 plus. I've been using a mains adapter for the 464 & normal 6128, but this doesn't fit the 6128 plus. I've also tried the GX4000 power lead, but to no avail.

As I don't have a suitable monitor to supply the power, can anyone point me in the right direction of where I might get a power lead for the plus?

Any help much appreciated !

Thanks

Neil.

Then: Welcome to our forum.

A stabilized 5v psu should do here. Best with 2A at least.

I'm using a generic 5V 4A regulated supply with mine.

When you say you used the GX4000 PSU with your 6128 plus what voltage PSU was it? If by chance it was a 11 or 12 volt one don't plug it in again (sorry if I'm pointing out what you already know here!) even if it won't physically fit you may still get enough of a contact to cause some serious damage.

If you did plug in the wrong PSU I'm crossing my fingers it didn't damage anything! I recently mixed up the 12 volt PSU for my TV with the 9 volt Spectrum PSU which resulted in a burned out transistor and voltage regulator!

Thankfully it wouldn't fit, although it did have some contact. Fingers crossed it's not burned anything out !

I cant take any credit for the avatar - found on a google image search many moons ago - nicely done though, whoever was responsible...

Thanks again, folks - it's nice to have somewhere to go for Amstrad support in 2013.  It must be getting close to the 464's 30th birthday, no?
