Hello guys,
For a long time I had my 6128 open waiting for Bryce's S-vid board to be installed. Well, today I installed it, but when I went to put it back together I realised that somehow the keyboard's cable strip had slpit! You know, the two surfaces split from one another...
So, I wanted to ask, is this critical? Is all hope lost? If so, anyone's got a spare keyboard they'd be willing to part with?
Thanks
T
Not quite sure what you mean with "The two surfaces" can you give us a picture?
Bryce.
Sure, apologies.
Just plug both...
On my CPC+ its also the case in fact you have got two sheets contacted together when key is pressed, be care if you hack with keyboard itself, it's just like packaging bubble plastic...
keyboard is just contacts, test it after hack done.
Well, yes, but don't these two surfaces need to be exactly aligned? Will it work indeed?
When plug, they are aligned ;)
In fact they are print not on the same side, so they didn't interconnect
I'll try that... crossing fingers!
Ah no problem, there's loads of tolerance in there. Just push both in together, it should work without any issues. It's not like they have a 0.05 pitch or anything!
Bryce.
P.s. Did the S-Video Modulator Mod work ok?
Ah, very cool. But, after all, do the stripes from each layer need to have contact with their counterparts on the other? Those keyboard belts always mystified me...
PS Dunno yet, I was dismayed to see the cable in that condition, haven't put it back together. Will do tomorrow :)
PS2 Oh no I won't, I just remembered my TV set doesn't have an S-vid input and I need to get an adapter on monday :(
Er... yes. I should have looked better. These are actually supposed to be two different strips, and there are two connectors on board. I though for a moment there that they were initially glued together and came apart.
A *doh!* moment.
:D So you meant the two strips! I thought the hard lamination had separated.
Bryce.
Yeah - I thought it was the lamination myself. Talking about busting my head against the wall...
