Hey all, I picked up this PSU with a view to using it with 464. It meets the voltage requirements and has some room in the amperage department.

The only issue is that the plug is 4.00mm x 1.7mm whereas the 464 requires 5.5mm x 2.1mm. The adapter will just have the same polarity as the power supply itself. Since that one is center positive, you're all set.

The adapter set is WRONG!!! It needs the male and female plugs exchanged.
And btw. polarity does matter! Else you may fry some of your RAM chips.
For the CPC polarity look in the wiki. IIRC positive is inside and negative is outside.

Really? What I have missed here? Wouldn't the male plug (1.7mm) connect to the PSU, providing a converter and the female plug (2.1mm) connect to the 464?

The PSU is definitely positive polarity. I've rechecked the Wiki (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Power_Supply_for_CPC_and_CPC_plus) to make sure it's compatible with the requirement for a positive tip.

Yes, the PSU is center positive.
But the CPC has a female DC connector, so you need to have a male plug of the right dimensions. So GUNHED is right, that one won't work.

I can find reverse adapters that provide a 2.5mm male connector (which would be great if I had a CPC Plus) but not for 2.1mm. I could always cut off the end and replace it with the correct plug...

Especially since the WIKI doesn't include the information that for 12V + is the outside and ground is inside...

Honestly it never came to my mind as so much information (like links) is outdated. Seems I'm not the only one who didn't think of updating it.

Sadly it doesn't. Some years ago I bought two 12V supplies and wondered why none worked. Well, now I got one spare. :-\
