Title: Problem with two 6128's
Post by: jonnixx on 16:03, 07 November 18
Hi,I am again.
1., I have a "new" CPC 6128 from ebay.
2., Tested the new 6128 with memtest.bin. Memory failed. All lines are red.
3., Conclusion: 2x 40010 failed or memtest is bad.
4., I wrote mail to Gerald, download the source and the latest memtest.bin.
5., Burn latest memtest.bin into EPROM and test both. Both memtest are OK. (oldest and newer 6128)
See the picture.
6., BUT: both CPC 6128 has same loading problem: freeze the program during loading (R-type Reloaded) when warm the CPC.both CPC are Spanish.
7., I tried to put heatsink onto 765 FDC. No change.
May i get any help?
Regards,Jonni

With both CPC having the same problem, I would start suspecting your R-Type Reloaded floopy.
Or both have the second bank failing (memtest only test the main one)

You can try this tester I wrote http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/wanted-working-memory-expansion-for-cpc-464/msg165794/#msg165794
Only pay attention to the first "page" of the tests as the rest is only if you have more ram.

Hi,
1., The RAM test is OK. 64kb found. Thank you.
2., if the machines are cold, then all ok (load HxC manager and any other game)
3., if both warm (half hour): HxC manager can not start, at all, error message: HxC ERROR_ATTACHMEDIAFAILED
4., and not stable the floppy handling on the oldest CPC 6128  (sometimes: Can not read Drive B)
May i get any idea?Regards,Jonni

What power supply are you using? And are you using the same power supply on both machines?

Bryce.

P.s. You should possibly open a new thread for this discussion....
I've split this discussion into a new thread.
