The power cable for the 3" drives have the 12v and 5v wire reversed. You have to mod the power wire by exchanging the two outer cables on the power plug to the drive ... or better don't use the 12v cable at all and put the 5v in place of the 12v.

To make sure you're not accidently feeding 12v, you can test this configuration without plugging the 12v plug to the monitor - you won't need it anyway from then on. If the HxC emulator lights up, then you're doing it right. ( The Pdf on the floppy emulators site explains this as well and with graphics.)

You can use the internal floppy cable with a little mod. For this you'll need a 34 pin shugart connector.
3" drives use a smaller 26 pin connector to the drive. The standard shugart connector which you'll need for the HxC has 34 pins. If you carefully open the 26 pin connector and detach the ribbon cable, you can then press the ribbon cable onto a 34 pin connector.

The yellow table on this web page shows you the correlation of the 3" ribbon wires to the shugart connector.
Essentially you start attaching the wires from the 1st marked wire to the 7th pin of the connector. Then you carefully tear the ribbon cable between the 6th and 7th wire and attach the part of the ribbon cable with the 7th wire to the pins of the connector beginning with pin 15.

I'll post a picture of my modded cable, if the above is confusing. ;)

And here it is. This picture should answer any further questions. And the connector does its job for about six weeks now. :)

There's no 12V supply in the 6128+ only 5V. The disc drive in the plus is a 5V device.

Bryce.
