What to do with this little beast?

A while ago I bought this for a friend of mine:

It's an external drive with ABBA and side selector. Nice, ain't it? It's an old external CD-ROM drive as far as I can see.


Unfortunately (for him) he had to move away in a hurry so it got left with me.


I thought I could maybe use it to house various things in it (ya know, money, books, spare food), since it's big enough. However, the original innards and especially the PSU take up lots of space:

So, any ideas what one could do with it? Any cool mods??

My two cents:

- Find a 5V(3A) / 12V(1A) power supply that takes up a fraction of the space.
- Rip out the original PCB.
- Install a 50way centronics port on the case.
- Install all your CPC expansions inside it.
- Use it to power your CPCs too.
- Add a power LED

I can easily cut it to add a new port since the back is made of plastic, so that's easily doable indeed, though I don't know how I'd be able to access the write mode for the MegaFlash after that!


Got any PSU you could recommend?


Yeah... powering up the CPC/monitor through it would be cool indeed!

Toggle Switch on the front panel.

This thing will power almost anything you wish (except for C64s which need 9VAC). I use one of these to power my Neo Geo.
