Funny that not only me was working on a "classic"-cartridge solution. So to not get suspended, I also want to present my solution:
- Only supports 512kB EPROMS
- Uses the Octoate/Nilquader-Flip/Flop-Hack but modified to work at Hardware-Reset, too
- gold plated contacts to be more reliable
- Fits in standart-cartridge but also in my printed cartridges
If someone is interested, I've some black cartridge-shells left and I can offer you a completely assembled cartridge with a .cpr or .bin of your choice (which you provide and you have the rights to, max. 512kB) for 21€ including shipping.
Hi Shining,
I am looking at replacing the two Romboxes attached to my Plus machines. Could your Homebrew cartridge provide a solution to this?
Cheers,
Peter
Rom-Boxes sounds a little bit like something, where you change your roms-frequently. With such a homebrew-cartridge it only makes sense, when you burn the eeprom ONE TIME and then never again.
For me, for example: I have a french+ with uk-6128 keyboard but also only a french system-cartridge. And since I do not want to always use my (fantastic) C4CPC, I was in need for a uk cartridge, so I made one with parados.
These are standard Romboxes from the nineties. One has ten Roms in it, the other has eight Roms. These Roms are never changed so burning a cartridge Rom would be a one time operation.
Cheers,
Peter
Looking at the board, it should also support lower capacities, such as the 27c1001 (128k). I know my version works fine with these, even though the links from the original cartridge have been removed.
@Comsoft6128. The "rombox" issue is not the hardware, it is the software burned onto the eprom.
I only ordered 512kB EPROMs (27c4001) in China and the price was ok. So I canceled support for other types.
Just built some carts for personal use. I combined my Pentomino and the Nq-Music-Disk to one cartridge and the pearl cartridge is my new parados-uk-system cartridge.
Can you please post the other side of your PCB too? Because mine seem not to work. :(
These look fantastic!
I'll have to have a look, and see if I can get the single disk (360K) version of Chibiakumas converted to a CPR.
