just read that post 30 cpc games in 30 years.....
good read
however, why not have a cpcwiki post / page of the cpcwikis's best 30 cpc games in 30 years tribute ?
maybe we collate as many members fav / best 30 games that they like to play and total up the responses and then post the results of cpcwiki's 30 cpc games in 30 years ?
what do cpcwiki members feel / think about this ?
I think this has been discussed before? It'd be very nice to construct a best-of for each year, that way early gems will get some recognition otherwise lost when compared to later titles.
i was just thinking along the lines that the cpcwiki should have its own celebration of cpc's 30 years.
a quick mock up of 30 particular cpc games over 30 years and i stress they are not games that i am biased towards...... everyone knows i hate Elite and Lemmings !!!!!

there is 30 names.... 3 games in 2007 as i did not find many games released between 2000 - 2002
and that's the whole point of this discussion for other people to celebrate the occasion and to come up with their own 30 games in 30 cpc years and it can be debated and results tallied up and put into a wiki page perhaps?
sure Renegade and Donkey Kong should be inclusions - get cracking on your your own list TotO !
i only did a quick mock up of 30 games by year and im sure others will see it differently which im looking forward to seeing other peoples discussion and 30 game entries
many of my fav cpc games are not in that list ;D
Gryzor is dated from 1987, not 1988 ;)

very true Kris :D
i did say it was a quick mock up of a list i never said it was accurate and i never said the mock up list i made should be a list representative of cpc's 30 years....
where's your list TotO, Kris and others ?
:P
I will this weekend... if I got the time for.
Renegade, 1987... in conflict with Barbarian 1 :)
The hardest to me, is 1985. Too much legendary games, Cauldron, Boulder Dash, Jet Set Willy etc

nobody said you couldn't have more than one for each year and to get your 30 games that the other years would have none ;)
afterall it is your own thoughts or your own favs or the games you felt have represented 30 years of cpc games......
im sure there would be people saying there needs to be a game for each genre ie strategy, fighting, racing, puzzles, arcade, shoot em up, platform etc etc
or maybe certain advances in cpc gaming should be highlighted like the freescape games which i didnt really enjoy but thats not what this is about - its getting people's thoughts of 30 cpc games over 30 years of cpc.

Everyone (well, nearly everyone) knows I LOVE Lemmings..
From that list, I've not played anything post 1994. Megablasters is good.
put together a list of 30 then Zeropolis79 ;)
Just a note, Gryzor is dated 1976 :)
I used to love Harvey Headbanger and weirdly Roland on the Ropes was great to play with a hangover
what about 30 games from the commercial era, and 30 games from the modern Amateur era...
Also 30 demos ?
I like this idea, it isn't fair having to choose between Gryzor for example, and Orion Prime.
Here is my incomplete demo list taken from personal experience and viewpoint:
CPC464 demonstration (no other demos around this time??)
Samantha Fox Original Sound Track - Touch Me (1 bit sampled sound)
PC1512 (nice raster and picture)
NWC Final Creation (epic overscan, nice graphics, smooth scroller, nice rasters, ripped music)
and the others I haven't put into year order yet:
KKB First (lots of nice effects on one screen and mode 2 coloured text in first part). Nice that it has 2 tunes that it switches between. A kind of "warm up" tune, then the main tune of the demo.
The Demo (first with musical disc loader)
S&KOH (impressive intro with horizontal rupture)
Gozeur's Madness (really nice distorting plasma)
Chain Demo (lots of different scrolls, rasters, technically good)
Face Hugger's Mega Demo (nice 3d, interlace, nice different ideas)
Batman Forever (effects with a "theme" all 50hz)
I will add some more as I remember them :)

Not many could focus on that :D
But, seriously, wasn't it a rendition of some popular tune?

Sam Fox's sure did have an original sound rack those 36D's could pump out extremely loud vocals punching well above her 5F 1" frame..... ;D ;D
Cue thread with CPC-pixel images of Sam?
and yes, the tune was the theme from a movie called "l'arnaque" (the screw/crookery) in french.
"The entertainer" in original version I think...
funnily this game surely was an "Arnaque"...

I tried to choose a demo from each year, ones which showed something interesting.
In the early years there were some very basic demos. Around 1988/1989 there was a big increase of demos from both German and French scene.
I chose ones that I also watched and enjoyed when I was younger.
So it includes both groundbreaking and also not so groundbreaking.
In 1984 for example, It was hard to find anything that wasn't like a basic type in.
In the middle years there is quite a lot of choice, in later years less choice.

Bits of the 464 Welcome Tape Demo were in Assembly and some were BASIC, though there were two graphical programs which were in the Manual, though I was just wondering if one of those graphical programs was rewritten in Assembly? I'm not sure if it was the one with the fancy circles of various sizes which drew in the shape of a triangle before flashing away.
