Hi,
Seems that the new Donations link is broken. Since the end of the "fat bully" era, the way of donations may have changed.
May Gryzor or Markus can explain, how much the Wiki costs now and in which way we can donate to keep it running.
Thanks guys,
TFM
Thats simple: My server costs about 50€ / year.
Who wants to help, can send a PM to me.
Yes, I removed the donations page when the thing went snafu - I didn't want any money going to Kangaroo. We'll set it up again properly...

What is a PM ??? PayPal? Can you send me (in a private mail) your bank account number, blz and the things I need to donate? I'll try to do it from my german account. However it will take some time, because if I transfer money from USA to DE, they charge me with $40 for every transaction. Damn!
Greets,
TFM
PM is the Personal Message function of the forum :D
(really, they charge you $40??! The thieves...)

Thanks mate! I'm getting old ;-) Ok, PM! And yes $40, and it doesn't matter if you transfer $1 or $10000 to europe :-(
:-)
Normally I don't recommend PayPal, but for international donations PayPal seems to be by far the easiest and cheapest option. DevilMarkus or Gryzor just need to set up a PayPal account (if they don't have one already), then TFM can either set up a PayPal Account to and pay via bank transfer or pay via credit card which even works without a PayPal Account on the donators side. The fee is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD. Setting up an account and using PayPal is dead easy.
As said before I don't normally recommend them (big evil company paranoia, etc. ;-)), but 40$ is just ridiculous.

Yes, I already have a german pp acount, sometimes relly useful.
About donations:
I do not pay very much for this server.
Internet should be free for the people!!!
So it is not necessary to donate me.
I'll pay it as long as I can / the ISP exist.
If there's still somebody, who wants to donate, send me a personal message and I will give you my banking connection.
Cheers,
Markus
Yeah, but as they said, Markus, Paypal is so much easier indeed...
I don't need any donations myself... well, I DO need any donations, but not for the wiki :D Since I'm not putting forward anything but my own time, I'm fine for the time being... :)
That's really a kind of perfect evolution. From the money eating old system to a nearly cost free future! Great! And all-time thanks to Gryzor and Markus!!!
Some information:
- When somebody wants to donate cpcwiki.eu (Which is an own domain with it's own server):
I would offer a subdomain including 1 MySQL database for your CPC-related website.
like: mycpcsite.cpcwiki.eu
with unlimited bandwidth and about 1gb Webspace (maximal)

That sounds good! But I've one question... If I take a look at the actual Wiki Main-Page, there is written that Kangaroo has donated 720 Euro in 2009. What does this mean? Did he payed that money or did he provide service in that 8 months of 720 Euro?
Again, this was deleted in the old wiki, but was ported over. There was also a discussion on this, and his 'donation' was removed, since he never donated any money; he just sponsored the hosting, for which he got separate credit, and that's all. As for the amount he claimed he donated... let's not go there :D
Because Kangaroo's Servers still work with bulbs, and (as everybody here knows) new bulbs are expensive, and also his ENIAC denies some php scripts, his hosting is very expensive. So a Wiki cost about 300€/month.

@Markus: Yes, bulbs are quite expensive. I tried to get one here, well, wasn't possible cause CMO buys them from all over the world ;-)
@Gryzor: Well, I don't mind to mention kangaroo, but if he is mentioned then it should be mentioned that he provided the server. Think it's not possible to name it in Euro that easy.
Further Prodatron payed that 1000 some longer time ago, like I know, not in 2009.
I don't want to change the main page, because there are already enough people who try to change it constantly.
However I 'm sure the time of confusion about this things will be over soon too.
Have a good meal, aehm or good night whereever you live .-)
