Hello guys,
Yesterday we upgraded the forum software to the latest version. As a result some things are not working - these need to be adjusted manually and I'm on it.
On a relevant note, but not connected to the above, we had a server problem this morning as you may have seen; the machine was rebooted and all seems fine.
On either case, let me know if you encounter any weirdness,
Gryzor
Yeah I noticed this monrning... Hope all is gonna be ok.
Youtube links do not work anymore (if you hadn't noticed...)
Good luck and may the Force be with you. ;)
The spoiler doesn't work any longer (see Devilmarkus posts)
My post suffers the same fate from lack of Spoiler! :( But I'm hoping that's one of things you're going to mend! ;D
I saw that thing with the server, weird cause I was getting different messages and one with a Search Bar along with the CPCWiki Logo (minus the forum) ;D
Thanks for posting your findings. Quite a few things don't work at the moment. Just fixed the Spoiler thing, but others are more difficult to fix. Have some patience guys, eventualy all will be back to normal :)
Spoiler fixed. Was it a bit different before?
Country Flags fixed
Ajax Notifications added - see if you can spot them :)
"Like" system added. We'll discuss this elsewhere, too!
Just wondered what the medal.gif next to your name was supposed to look like. Some members have it as a "X" cause the file is missing where we would have a stars next to our name?
Ooh... I have forgotten about that one. I think the medal was meant for those who have donated, will try to locate it.
Unread and Replies has been reinstated at the top!

Added
Multi-Quote, and this time it works perfectly, too! You just add or remove quotes and then you hit Reply. Took a lot of work, this one...

Not so hard to figure out. But, as I said, I'll start another thread for this.

Works fine here! 8)
It refuses to work with my recent installed IE9...
Ooh I'm not going to support IE9 :p
But I just tried it on my box with IE9, it works fine. What does it give you?
RSS Feeder re-enabled!
As you can appreciate, this was quite a big software update...
Now the site won't let me log out.
Kill your cookies ;)
Then logout should work, too

What are supporters? I think everyone who posts here is a supporter... Or did I get that wrong? ;)

Look for the manager in this forum. He's the one who absorbs the money.
Hmmm you mean that's the reason why Gryzor drives a Lamborghini and I still walk by foot?

Does he belong to their caste of politicians who ruin their country?
I thought he had a job in graphics?

There you are, corrected that for you. ;)
Hahahaha :D
Those are old donations, they went to Kangaroo. We didn't get any donations after the move (weird?)...
In marketing I am, graphics not.

I am confused.
My understanding was that Kangaroo's hosting was expensive.
Markus' hosting in comparison is very much cheaper...?
So is there now a need to donate to keep it going?
Kangaroo's hosting didn't cost a dime, since it was hosted at his company; as a marginal cost, then, it was non-existent (even if Kangaroo has put himself down as a donor of some €3000 IIRC???). People did donate money though, some of them a lot.
Markus is paying for the host now, but when we had a donation system up noone stepped forward... And it's the limiting factor why we haven't moved to a much better host by now (well, as far as I'm concerned).
The actual costs are about 40€/year.
So a donation is not really necessary but would help to keep the forum/wiki online.
I will try to explain:
- A donation brings much motivation
- Also 40€ is money ;)
- Actually we use ~20Gb of webspace. So we still are far away from 100Gb available. But when the day will come, that we need more, we also have higher costs.
That's all very confusing, cause I was under the impression the people who had medals beside them had contributed in the past. At least I thought that was what I had seen on the Wiki and thought that was the reasoning behind why some members had medals. :-\
Guess that thread needs a split now :police:
Hi...
Don't know if it was allready talked about...
When I am in "post reply" window, I see the different editing options as text, not icons...
is this normal ?
How can I switch back into Icons ?
Thx.
Picture related.
Ooh yes, it happens here too. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll look into it.

Well the fact it say's on the front page
"Currently there is no need to donate. Please consider helping the CPC-Wiki in other ways, donating your time instead." might have something to do with it.
P.S. Am I the only person for whom all the editor buttons are missing images?

they're missing for me too....
Before the changes took place "the CPC Wiki" Logo right up the top was a link to the Main Page to the Wiki, will that be changed back to that please?
-Logo fixed - now directs to the main CPCWiki site.
I'll try and tackle the icons issue now...
-Posting icons fixed. Thanks to all those who reported it!
Grrrr, I was hoping you wouldn't notice that bit with the Logo. On ModernDark64 I always used that to refresh the Forum page, now that I'm back to default, I keep ending up back in the wiki :D
Bryce.

F5 is your friend.
Well, there's no pleasing everyone :D
That said, below the logo there's a "Home" link ;)
The logo is bigger and easier to "hit" than the home button :) F5 is fine, but it doesn't bring me back to the home page.
Bryce.
Arghhhh! Then user Opera, put the forum on SpeedDial and hit the combo key. I'm sure there are shortcut solutions for other browsers as well :p
This looks better with icons, also I was used to them, the text was sort of... erf... not that good.
Thx.
Yes, because the text was actually the ALT text of the images...
There seems to be a problem with the add multi quote feature. I'm assuming that if I click on the add multi quote, the text from that quote will be included with the second quoted message that I click quote on, this doesn't seem to be happening, which means I have to click on quote for the first message I want, copy that and exit and click on the second bit.
Or is there something I'm not doing right there?

As I said before, you have to click on multi-quote on each separate message, then click reply. It just worked for me :)
There are some cases where it will fail, presumably because it works with cookies - haven't managed to track it down yet. But this post is proof it works!

Well it's not working for me and I just tried that and got no quotes. And yes I've tried different combinations - all no good! :(

Unfortunately it seems to be failing for me everytime I want to do this, all I can do is copy my first quote and add it into the second message I'm quoting. May mean a slight delay but at least it works.
Well, mind giving your system specifics?

WinXP running IE8, my security and privacy are set to Medium-High, Javascript I'm unsure - 1.3 I think. Nothing fancy, though I do have anti-virus software (as anybody would).
Can't get it to work with f*cking IE... Will look a bit into it but I wouldn't have too much faith :(

It might be this stupid Adobe Flashplayer which is screwing things up (if you think IE is bad, then Flashplayer is definitely worse on my computer! >:( ).
Yet Flash should not appear in the forum pages...
My Privacy is set to medium-high which has an impact on 3rd party cookies which can do things with my details without my explicit consent. Perhaps this is preventing the use of the multi-quote option?
Well, why don't you try it and tell us? :)
I did try toying around with privacy settings (in IE9 it doesn't go below 'medium'! WTF?) but got nowhere...

And reveal all my secrets to the world? :o
I've kept my privacy Medium-High, however I've excluded this site which comes up "cpcwiki.eu" so cookies can be used only on this site. Even with this enabled though I still cannot produce multi-quoted posts.
QuoteI did try toying around with privacy settings (in IE9 it doesn't go below 'medium'! WTF?) but got nowhere...
Got nowehere as in multi-quoted posts still worked? Or got nowhere as in IE is nowhere near as good as the other web-browsers?
Not working :(

"Calling International Rescue" has a nice ring about it! Though seriously are people really put off because of different languages? I'm still checking out the German section occassionally which may not make a lot of sense through an interpreter, German Dictionary helps cause it also includes common sentences, better than nothing I suppose. I also have a look at the Spanish ESP which has some interesting stuff on it! :)
Call me naive but isn't this that we all use called the world wide web? To me the "international" word sounds redundant. :police:
Well, then it wouldn't be as catchy... plus, it *is* bigger than the localised ones, ain't it?
@McKlain: It's teh interwebz anyway! :D
There's a very good chance the world will know what your talking about if you use a word like "Micro$loth", isn't there? :-\
I cannot quite recall, though I thought before the Forum Upgrade when you signed in (at the top) it would take you straight back to where you were previously? So if you were replying to something, it would take you straight back to that reply box, or if you were in a certain section it would take you back to that. Now when you sign in it reverts back to main forum screen which is a little annoying. True I am somewhat impatient to quibble over minor details, unfortunately that's just in my nature! :(

In regards of usability that should be the standard behavoiur, staying in the page that you were before login in.
Hmmm if it is so it means they changed it in the forum code. Can anyone else confirm this?
