Title: New Server Upgrade!
Post by: Ygdrazil on 17:50, 28 March 07
Hi

Nice to see the server upgrade!

Unfortunately it seems to bee impossible to upload any types of files to the Wiki, because of the upload directory not being writable!

Also some of my articles somehow does not show up at all ???

eg.

http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Hage%27s_First_Demo

and

http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Why_Not_Demo

simply leaves the browser windows completely empty!

Maybe its just starting trouble, but might be worth looking into

Ygdrazil

Awwww darn. I will make the dirs writeable - no problem there, just silliness on my part.

About the missing articles - darn. I will have to look into it more, I wouldn't know why it doesn't work. What we did was to copy the whole directory structure to the new server, so how could it go wrong? Will try to look into it though.

CPCGamesCD... Doubledarn. I forgot about the subdomains. The directory has to be there, so it'll only be a matter of creating the subdomain.

Thanks for bringing these to my attention - please keep them coming!

Cheers
Gryzor

Well, it's frustrating when you don't know what...

Uploading is fine, by the way - can you try it? Next: will try to see if I can set the new software version to allow all kinds of files to be uploaded!

First thanx a lot for your work on the upgrade!
I don't know, if it's a problem of the new software or because of the fact, that I have to use Firefox now (my IE crashed):
Everytime when I save an article, I get a completely white screen. The article has been saved sucessfully, but instead of return to it I get only a white screen.

Ah... happened to me too, but because it was at the work PC (which sucks) I though something was wrong... well; in that case, I will do some more maintenance: I will delete the existing software base and then intall mediawiki anew. This should solve all of the quirks, but it'll take some work, and unfortunately I'm going away for a long weekend with my girlfriend tomorrow. Unless anyone feels like it (in which case I'll gladly offer the password to the server), I will do it next week...

Strange, though; indeed the article is saved, but something fails to be parsed...? Dunno why it would happen - the old installation was mirrored, then the update was applied...

Well, I wanted to write new articles about the connectors of the CPC, but when I tried uploading the images of the connectors I got this error message:

Could not copy file "/tmp/phpLs5wNP" to "/var/www/vhosts/cpcwiki.eu/httpdocs/images/4/40/Cpcdisk.gif".

Hi Gryzor,

the "white page" problem occurs also in this situations:
- showing the differences between two versions
- showing an old version
Hope you can fix that.

Ack! You beat me to it :) Yes, fixed it earlier this afternoon. Next up: see if I can make it so that it finally allows all kinds of files to be uploaded.

A shame I can't add the wiki to that ranking site...

Yeah, I know; I'm still experimenting, the upgrade is not final, that's why the upgrade textbox is still on the front page. The bad news: I don't know what causes this. The good news: I know how to fix it. So, soon... :)

Well, I still can't upload images to the wiki (I want to add the connectors) and get the following error:

Could not copy file "/tmp/phpeeqQWi" to "/var/www/vhosts/cpcwiki.eu/httpdocs/images/4/40/Cpcdisk.gif"

Hi Gryzor

I at least cannot upload files to the wiki :-(

I still get this message when i try to uload a file:

Could not copy file "/tmp/phpLjDg9s" to "/var/www/vhosts/cpcwiki.eu/httpdocs/images/6/66/BladetOmAmstrad.jpg".

This worked on the older server setup!??? ?

I have no clue on what is wrong?

Argh... that's a different dir, weird. But nothing a recursive chmod shouldn't be able to take care of. Try again in a couple of minutes if you please :)

...aaand, time to learn the umask command, methinks!

 ;D Ahhh yes  ;D

Excellent...

Even .pdf file upload seems to work now! Jolly good!

But it would be nice with possibility to upload .dsk and .mp3 files also ...

Thanks a lot!
