It's a shame because the project could be of interest.

But because of Phi2x's approach all I can do with it is play games (slowly) in my browser - that's it.  I don't learn anything.

Oh well, some people are protective over their code I guess[nb]Very odd though, because, as was previously pointed out, he only got as far as he did through what others had previously shared![/nb], but it is no excuse to start mouthing off on a forum.  I think you did the right thing in a difficult situation Gryzor.

McKlain

I wonder if he was interpreting the comments like this:

The mothership remark is of course because you're the one running this forum. Not sure why you interpret that as an insult, but obviously must be because you were disagreeing with eachother. If someone else referred to you like that earlier, you'd probably have considered it funny and a positive remark.

Nonsense. Mothership is an album by Led Zeppelin. Anything connected with Led Zeppelin must be seen as a compliment. ;)

I don't know why he felt he needed to defend his stance. If he just reinstated that he doesn't like to share his code, it would have been enough. And sure some people might have commented on that, but that's actually to be expected. There was no need answering to that at all.

@McKlain: Excellent! His reactions suggest that he indeed interpreted it this way.

Well guys, I find this discussion boring until phi2x cannot reply here ;)

Thanks mates, appreciate it.

Truth is, when something like that happens I get quite a few emails ranging from "thanks for keeping it up" to "I don't know how you keep so calm" to "f*ck the m*therf*cking f*ckers!". What these have in common is that they are private messages; understandably so, these members do not want to partake in a public fight, so I totally respect it and feel lucky about them, though public voice is somewhat skewed...

So thanks. I really can't say more than that.
I agree, PMs are private and they should be kept private.

If somebody would tell me to swipe my a** using a Warning, well, I just would refuse, because I had to print out the Warning first and the paper is pretty harsh. So, it was really NOT a smart idea to write that kind of PM to a moderator.

On the other hand, take a look at it from the psychological POV. If you feel attacked from all sides, you start to fight eveybody. And my guess is, that this scenario did happen here.

I was banned on Malc's forum twice cause I was a bit of a hot head back then, though given the circumstances I had been unemployed for quite a while from what I was doing and was trying to get work in a different field. I think when people have personal issues and it gets misplaced on a forum, it suddenly becomes confusing cause people don't know what's happening. I still have personal issues, though I can get by on this forum without it interfering. I think it's worse when you feel like the world is against you, cause then you just attack anyone.

Well, I had personal issues too, and I had problems in forums too. However this can't be an excuse. Everyone is 100% responsible for whatever this person does.

Really?? So if I have some Road Rage person come and smash up my Car just because they didn't like the way I drive, that would make me 100% responsible.

I think that TFM/FS meant something else.

Gryzor

yes, the complete opposite actually, just his phrasing was a bit weird.

McKlain, I had missed your "Why U..." image above, just saw it. Thanks, you made my morning :D

By the way, I'd like to mention an argument (well, 'argument') of his because I feel it's significant to put things straight:

Quote from: phi2x on 23:09, 31 August 11
A community is a community. It doesn't have any prerequisite or raison d'être per se. It's just that some people are sharing the same interest, and come together to exchange about it.

Of course at first he says there's no reason of being for a community and then goes on to explain what this reason is, but, banal as it may sound, I do believe that we have built a nice little community where lots of help is freely given, lots of fun is to be had and, for the most part, almost all of us respect the implicit or explicit prerequisites. This is why, small as it may be, it's so nice and successful.

And I'm not talking about the CPCWiki alone here, but about the other fora that are or were before us.

AMSDOS

Yes I agree that Personal Issues cannot be an excuse.

It's complicated trying to describe it, being on the Internet is kind of like been out in your car, you interact with other people, though you don't associate with them which means you don't know them which in turns means your more likely to lash out at them. Though I hear of people who are dying through stuff they put on their facebook page which attract the wrong people(??).

I might know Gryzor from some personal stuff he's put on the forum, little bit of information here and there and I'm guessing likes the regular Gotcha joke, I'd probably have to do some digging about to find out more about him, though would have to be more open compared to the likes of myself.

Thanks for this message, mate, it's much appreciated.

The original thread was locked because it had descended into a flame and I saw no reason for continuing...

So just open a new one.

Well can we all watch another round of Nyan Cat* together, now that we've all made up?

Maybe it would be ncie to have a set of two threads per emulator, one for the emulator itself, and another for discussion on it.

That way, if there's any kind of problem, the thread of the emulator itself would not be affected.

By the way, nice to have you back, phi2x!

Gryzor

Thanks for your consideration, indeed it would be pointless to open another thread.

However, the thread was locked because the discussion had gotten out of hand. I've reopened it now, but let's keep it on the emulator itself :)

Seeing the CPCBox thread opened again is all I want, but that's not how the forums work I'm afraid.
The admins have locked the subject. So they certainly don't want me to reopen it behind their back.

But there is a similar thread open on Push'n'Pop.

If people want to stay in touch with CPCBox, that's the place to visit:
