Well, maybe you've noticed it at the top of the main forum page. If you like it, use it. If you don't, off it goes :)
Sadly doesn't appear here (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0.1) Gecko/20111121 Firefox/8.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.5)
Tried FF (6.02), Opera (12), IE and Chrome Canary, they all work. Cache maybe?
Can anyone else confirm?
Ehm... sorry, I had forgotten to set the permissions right. Try again? :)
I shouted at it, but nothing happen? ::)
Bryce.
Somebody else had a Shoutbox on their website, forgotten about it until now! :o I suppose they are really handy if you've got Personal problems, but it's the kind of detail you want to see disappear eventually rather than remain around for the rest-of-the-world to see! :) I just don't know how that could apply on an on-topic sense unless something tragic happens to your CPC. Prove me wrong and keep it on! ;) I guess we're no closer to having built-in Skype conservations (kind of featured in 2001: A Space Odyssey)? Til that happens this'll have to do! :)

It's a zen shoutbox. It just stares back at you in a soothing way.
If you filter forum messages, you lose it...
Better to put it always on bottom, after the "quick reply". (we always show it after the last post)
But it only appears on the main page...
So no need to pollute existing topics... we can now get crazy on ponies outside analblast topics...
Is there any chance of gaining access to the whole shout-box or does the db only hold what's shown?
Not sure. I know I can set the limit of what's shown, and in the moderation center I can see everything from since I installed it, but I'd have to look into it for details. Why??
All the shoutbox needs now is a crazy rambling Brazilian posting. ;D

I dunno, it might be handy to see old shouts. Especially if there are some useful ideas/pictures/music/disks that initiate projects, and related shouts have already disappeared off the list.
However, if you've got access to all shouts, then we could always just ask you or Devilmarkus to check for us. Which sounds easier to me.
Probably yes, but then again it's just a shoutbox, not a collaboration tool!
Personally I've never used it in other fora, but they seem kinda popular, so I thought...
I shoot at it but only manage to get a hole on my monitor...
I don't think there is any point in having a shoutbox on a forum, but on another site I use, their shoutbox goes back about six months or more, so you don't have to keep logging in every few hours in case you miss something.
As I said, I don't use it, but I can see its point (darn! I wrote "it's point"! Shaaaame!): it's a community, people hang out, they talk.
So if it went back further you'd prefer it?
@MacDeath: try shouting at it as Bryce did, instead of shooting it.

I don't think I will use it but if it's there then it should go back a while, can you arrange to go back to the last time a user logged in, like the unread posts function?

That goes towards what I said earlier with Shoutboxes being useful for when you want to ramble on and see something on the Internet disappear! Don't think you can have an Database which stores the messages Infinately! :D Twitter might have that facility though! ;)
Is the "CPCWiki shootbox" can be renamed "Shootbox"?
I know we are old and may be Alzheimer can hit... But, now? ;D
The new version of the shoutbox doesn't recognise URLs and truncate them into ~20 chars, like the last one did.
That's why yesterday's pony image caused so much havoc!
EDIT: Today's pony is an attachment... I'm too tired to play around with TinyURL and whatnot to stop the SHOUTBOX looking all pooey!
(It's MODE 1, 7 colours, 01-06-14-25, 384x272 in .png)
Just use a URL shortener ;)
make it 20% shorter...
;)
...or, %20 shorter, har, har, har :D
The shoutbox is 20% shorter, it is now only displaying four lines when it was originally showing five.
Yes, because I-won't-mention-who decided to go overboard with his URLs, and as a result a scrollbar was introduced. It'll go away soon.
Ah, some italian guy.
Was thinking about maybe replacing the shoutbox with an IRC thingie. I have installed a test applet, currently connecting to the server/channel given by Mr_Lou in one of his posts. The problem is, it can't be incorporated in the homepage like the shoutbox, but must be on its own page. Feel free to play with it and tell me what you think...
Would be nice to have a proper IRC channel, that I can connect to and idle on, like I do on the other IRC channels I frequent ;)
Needless to say, it'd connect to an already existing server/channel. No need to create another one...
I haven't tried it myself, but how about Javascript IRC client?
http://www.levelthreesolutions.com/jisirc/ (http://www.levelthreesolutions.com/jisirc/)
@mr_lou: the one used right now is very similar... why change?
@TotO: wrong thread?

Change if you want a chat instead of a shoutbox.

I see 4...
Red, Orange, Pastel Yellow, Pastel Blue, Purple, Grey-ish, Dark Blue --->
7
@mr_lou: already testing an IRC client, what's different with the one you suggested is what I mean...
@tastefulmrsnhip: what on earth are you talking about? :D

Oh, well I believe that Javascript one can be embedded on the site, without needing to open a new window, if that's what you wanted.

Ok?!?! I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at here.
MODE 1 only has 4 colours; it's impossible to have more without resorting to CRCT tricks, and even then it's not 100% accurate across the entire screen (especially when using an emulator). Stippling is the only way to "emulate" more than 4 colours on MODE 1, which is what I was trying to do with that image. YELLOW+RED=ORANGE, etc. Hence 7 colours in MODE 1 (4 normal, 3 emulated)
Am I missing something obvious? I'm really sorry if I am. I didn't think I had to explain my post, especially to an accomplished artist!
*confused*
Have I wronged you in some way,
TotO? I apologise if I have.
*REALLY confused*
@tastefulmrship: Your post with the picture said "7 colors". It's wrong, there are only 4 colors on it. That all. ;)
@mr_lou: ah yes, indeed, but I don't think the one you suggested can solve this problem. Still, I'm looking for a better solution...
@TotO/tastefulmrship: am I missing something? Do these posts belong here???

I delete my posts (except the "last"; Waiting his answer)
It's about a picture showed here, because can't be displayed on the Shoutbox.
Ah yes, I had forgotten about the previous posts. But there are PMs, and then you can always create a new thread to continue Shoutbox discussions :D

If there was an official #cpcwiki somewhere, I'd idle on it. :)
Just so long as there is mention of the server the channel is located, so that I can point my IRC client to it. I don't use my browser constantly like some people seem to... ;)

There is not. But there are 3 other CPC channels on IRC.
#CPC on irc.europnet.org
#AmstradCPC on proxy.epiknet.org
#CPC on irc.freenode.net
I'm idle on all 3 whenever I'm on IRC (which means most of the time), and have had some good chats with various CPC geeks.
More people would be nice! So do join.
Official, as in sanctioned by Amsoft? :D
Which one is the most active then?
Quote from: Gryzor on 09:01, 19 December 11

Official, as in a channel that would be promoted on the wiki and/or forum as somewhere to chat with other wiki users.
Yes, I understood that :) but still I think we should piggyback on an existing channel if there's interest...
Why can't I post in the shoutbox?
...more details?
Is it supposed to work? I write a line and presses enter. My line disappears from the form-field, but doesn't appear in the shoutbox.
Also tried clicking the Send button instead. Same result.
Looks like it's working. Browser?
Firefox 12.0
Lemme try with Chrome and Opera....
Ok for some weird reason it suddenly works. Can't explain it.
Heheheh :D A hickup maybe.
