Few days later, but I almost forgot to post my latest bull.... CPC prod here...

"Sundance" by Slipstream.

We made #6 of 7 possible ranks in "OldSkool" category / Sundown party... (So we were not the last at least) :D

Have fun with stuttering BASIC & ASM routines ;)

A nice little demo; some decent ideas. The loading bar and "crash" were quite funny.

Each demo shows improvement :)

Not good gfx; not good code... Not good demo...

I never said, it has good code, GFX etc... ;)

More sad I find the fact, that we already "celebrated" the CPCs 30th birthday, and really noone of our special-elite-hyper-threaded-undercover-hitech-demo-group released any demo...

I agree with Jonah, first time you see the loading bar go crazy you really feel annoyed, hehe!

And yes, not a batman forever killer, but it's nice. And, hey! I haven't created a cpc demo yet, so I cannot complain. :-)

TFM

Some new ideas! Great work.  :) :) :)

Can't complain, I like watching new stuff so thanks :) I didn't quit it half-way through, so it must account for something!

Right... ok...?!?!?!

It's far better than anything I could ever do. For me, it's very entertaining.
The read error and screen corruption really fooled me! When it "rebooted" and there was no STK ROMs, I then knew it was fake and simply part of the demo and I found that pretty impressive and amusing!

TMR

i accidentally beat this in the competition with a Spectrum demo despite still having the Z80 L plates on...! But if it helps, How Does This Work Again? is getting a major slating over at Pouet. =-)

(The Atari 8-bit music driver i wrote for one of Bex's tunes that was moved to the demo competition and came last seems to be surprisingly popular though... not sure i understand how that works?!)

It's good to see newcomers. This has many parts, a new group on CPC. It's too slow, I understand this. Has some spirit at least, nice ideas.
I think it's much better than my Procrastinopolis. And these are new people! I am veteran who release bad stuff sometimes.
But you are allowed to say it's bad, I don't take it as arrogance. And we are allowed to be more soft too, maybe we don't want to drive away newbies, maybe we just don't feel like being too negative.

Markus, When do you plan your next demo?

Have you considered making a plus demo using b-asic?

Nice! I enjoyed it, thank you guys. I also like some facts around the demo: newcomers, basic, multi-parts, not-a-top-notch-prod (*), balls to release it at a party.

* This deserves some words. I miss the not-so-old days, with some Xmas demos and some other nice but not top-notch releases. Definitely not my opinion: rising the average level of (CPC) releases by removing those so cute surprises. Look at CPC games (versus demos): some massive works (Orion Prime, R-Type) but also numerous other releases, from impressive australian and german games to nice spanish and french games. Wow! the CPC game scene is alive! Back to CPC demos: thank you Slipstream, I'm so glad that you release such a prod (and don't misunderstand: I also enjoyed the whole show).

I don't plan anything...
In fact I even did not plan this masterpiece of demo ;)

Steve (TCM) asked me 3 days before the Sundown event happened, if I could help him to "improve" a little BASIC demo, he wrote, a bit...

Well, that's the result...

I'm not sure anyone would say it's a good demo. But: it's a good surprise, it's good news, it was good to watch it. Enjoying a show is a question of feeling and taste. Don't misunderstand: I respect those people (let's call them: sceners) and I do understand they won't like the demo cos' they have their own rules of what a good demo should be. I hope they will (try to) understand that such a release is good enough for us me.

Well, it's ok... Every critic is ok...

And perhaps, one day, in 2025 or so, we can really watch the "30 years Amstrad CPC megademo" ;)

Edit: Sure, I can understand it... We are all older now, have work, families... And really: 30 years of preparing a really cool megademo is a very short time only...

Really: If the 30th birthday didn't come somewhat unexpected, we sure already had a megademo, hadn't we?

Another? No other demo has even ever come CLOSE to Batman Forever... let alone beat it!

MacDeath

every demos released killed the Batman at least twice.

I must have been on Mars when that happened; the two BIG demos since BF I know of were no even close to it (one even claimed not be even trying to beat BF; which was the AMAZING "Breaking Baud" by Doz; which I still regard as SECOND only to BF). Which demo(s) are you referring to? Maybe I was on Mars when a demo actually beat the Spanish super-demo!

EDIT: Ok, PHORTEM is in battle with BREAKING BAUD for #2 spot; those ANGEL/DEMON and TWIST scroller routines were stunning as well as the overall design and theme. Beautiful. It's hard to choose between them!

TFM

Ruhig Brauner... Back to topic please! There are numerous BF threads already (usually hijacked by this guy).
