Title: Two productions by the Les Sucres en Morceaux group
Post by: ComSoft6128 on 08:15, 19 March 21
Featuring a rogues gallery of CPC talent (or maybe Interpol's "most wanted"?) these demos are well worth watching just for the conversation going on between the coders shown in the slideshow - it's just a pity I don't know what they are saying :(

Drive A - Climax - Le Making Of           (2007)
Drive B - Amstrad Expo Magic Circus    (2006)

Drive A - 1:05 to 3:02
Drive B - 3:16 to end.

The music used in the Amstrad Expo Magic Circus is a very good version of "Waltzinblack" from the Stranglers Meninblack album,
but unfortunately minus the grim chuckling and maniacal laughter in the original it loses the disturbing element of that track.

Seriously, if you want to creep someone out at Halloween - play this (must be loud and in stereo!) thru an Amp/decent speakers:

Not emulated - original hardware and software.

Please note that  the aspect ratio for this YouTube video is 16:9 but the CPC monitor
has an aspect ratio of 4:3 so you may wish to adjust your viewing device accordingly.

It's sadly not very relevant to show a demo on YouTube that can ONLY look good on the original hardware. The flickering of the CPC original screen makes the render valuable. On Youtube, all you see is two bad pictures flickering at random rate... But the Circus was funny to watch, though.

what is surprising me is "Not emulated - original hardware and software."
so why isn't the video @50Hz ?
maybe for this one it should be clever to blend @25Hz before youtube upload

Hi @Targhan (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=110) ,

Thanks for your input.

The recording looks fine to me but I could be missing something. Could you point out where the footage is lacking?
The demos were Run on a 6128 Plus and recorded using the OSSC/Hauppauge Rocket combination - is there another hardware solution you could recommend?

Cheers,

Peter

everytime there is flickering, this is abnormal

Understood.

The first two images and the explosion and robot animations?

All the images up to 1:50 are not well rendered. Now don't get me wrong, there *is* flickering on a real CPC (commonly referred to as "flashouille" when you are "in the know"), but it is fast and regular, thus creating new colors on CPC - SuperSylvestre kind of "trademarked" that on CPC when he released his Climax Megademo.

Plus, on your video, the sound is not synchronized with the image, it is lagging a few seconds behind...

I don't know anything about that kind of hardware, I'm sorry.

Thanks for the info.

Yes the sound issue has plagued me since day one and its one of the reasons I'm looking for a better hardware solution. I find it surprising that there is not one relatively simple device to allow "perfect" recording for the CPC available for a few hundred pounds. ::)

@roudoudou (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1714) I've updated my YT video with a note pointing out that these images are not being displayed correctly in the video.
