Some of you have already seen it on the homepage shoutbox, but it was mandatory to make an "official" thread on the forums. A new 4 kilobytes demo from Overflow and myself.
http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=60660 (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=60660)
It's 128kb only, try it on real hardware if you can ;D
Markus, we are waiting for you to make a proper video capture of the demo, like only you know how to do ;D
I'm not a fan of the pastels and weird stippled colour palettes of recent demos, I like the good olde FIRE REDs and SOLID BLUEs of the CPC palette and it really gives this intro a true CPC feel.
And the music, as was mentioned in the ShoutBox, is simply amazing for a 4k intro.
Top job by both participants! ^_^
The color choises really work here. Especially the part with purple against bright green is excellent, it really makes the effect stand out like in no other plasma I've seen on the CPC before. You don't always need alternative and complex color choises to make an effect work well.
Great work, Overflow, we want moaaarrrrr :D
rb
Yes, the final plasma is one of the most craziest things I've seen on the cpc ;D
Nice work guys!
Now when will you release the next mega-demo? (on 4 disks)
Expect a 2015 release ;D
Great work! Thanks!
Indeed, I very much enjoyed it last night, much to my girl's pain. Thanks :)
Great little demo, awesome work guys!
Hermol from CPCrulez already posted a Youtube video :
Yet Another Plasma! (Logon System 2012) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk9j-M-F4nA#)
...for french speaking fans, the topic at CPCrulez forum too :
http://cpcrulez.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4955 (http://cpcrulez.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4955)
...and the news page with a few screenshots :
★ AMSTRAD CPC ★ DEMOSCENE ★ DEMOS ★ Yet Another Plasma! (http://cpcrulez.fr/demostestDO_yet_another_plasma.htm)
Enjoy!
I could see it last Sunday as Hermol and Overflow came to my appartment in Valence.
Was fun to see them in person and to see this plasma in "avant-première".
The stripes effect with the slight curves is really nice.
The long gradient with hue shift from Dark red to pastel yellow (through orange) and the other from dark Blue to pastel cyan (through skyblue) are really stapple values from the CPC palette...
The Green and Purple ones actually features some slight hue shift to Yellow ending in pastel yellow.
and Purple (actually called "Magenta" by Amstrad) going slightly red through the Magenta(actually called "Purple" by Amstrad) in the middle. (Well, not sure he did this actually, gotta verify on emulator and real CPC perhaps)
We tried a few other palettes too but he made the obviously better choices.
I guess he couldn't put more sequences and more palettes because of the 4k limitation.

Oh... and it's online, too ;)
JavaCPC Applet - Yet Another Plasma! (Logon System & Mc Klain) (http://java.cpc-live.com/demo.php?id=-Y-&title=Yet_another_plasma!_%28Logon_System__McKlain_-_2012%29)
Fantastic surprise ! great achievement for Overflow's return !
4K , fullscreen , 50Hz with a cool tune , i love this. The effect is soooo good, i really love the part with different color stripes.
Two very very very little things : color choice (nothing serious against it but it is very basic) and the demo does not loop (i'd like to look it more and more!)
just add a "goto 10" then... ;D
I need to sample the tune while playing on my 464, I'm still not sure that the emus play it properly.
By the way, the song is an adaptation of an old work of mine, from 1999:
THE TRACER (V2) - MCKLAIN - goear.com (http://www.goear.com/listen/1f29dee/the-tracer-v2-mcklain)
/me likey, though it comes out quite distorted...
I need to export it again from the impulse tracker module ;D
Please do, sounds lovely :)

Just listened to it with headphones at full blast at work. Love it!
Thank you, sir ;D
...listening to it again now :D
Nice tune!
Hi guys!
I've had much fun when creating the intro,
polishing with the stunner tune from McKlain has been a great final.
"Cherry on the cake" (is this good English?),
people have had some good time by watching the show.
Then you guys took time to comment: nice to you, I appreciate.
I've liked the comments which end by a simple "Thanks!",
so here am I: for your nice words, thanks! :)

Want my paypal account for it? :D
No really, you did a nice work!
And McKlain a great tune :)
This demos is still _just_ great!!! I consider it one of the best in all times! :)
Fantastic little demo with a nice tune, I really like it a lot.
It is a must see on a real CPC, and looks really nice on a CTM and an LCD screen.
Cheers,
Shane

And it's running in mode 2 and pretty fast. Very good.
Now I want a new version of Arkos Tracker ;D
What CRTC does it run under? Can't get it to work in Winape...
Go figure, I ran it on cpce.
There is a gap beetwin both (1 demo VS 1 effect) but that stay impressive.
It's definitiveny not possible to do in 256B what you could in 4KB or 16KB, or ...

Nice Intro and Music!
Oh, wait, still had "Yet another plasma" running in background... errr... ehmmm....
Ok the MODE 2 thing is nice... But YAP is nicier :P

It works on all CRTCs in WinAPE2A18.
Setting it as a standard
CPC-6128 (with or without PARADOS) will suffice.
Make sure "Turbo Mode" & "Display Every" are both unchecked and the "Timing" is set to 100%.
Huh, what do you know, this time it runs fine. Thanks for the tip, might have been the Turbo Mode I had forgotten on.
It's sooo smooth, like someone controlling it with knobs and dials real-time!
Well, are there still users of a real CPC, or is anybody here using only emulators? Just asking... ;)
Just trolling, more likely :p

Today and today only (cos' tomorrow the demo is 1 month old and out):

Actually, 3 days ago, it was more... logical? (who says: C64 > Amstrad CPC)
Not laughing: it seems oldschool platforms are more and more "considered"(?)
Good work. Especially considering there was a C64-only party this month too... :)
Ohhh yeah.
Well, actually, by taking a closer look at the numbers, Yet Another Plasma should have been listed above Trick and Treat! Take a look at the votes in each prod. T&T has 55 positive and 5 piggy votes by 27/11 while at the same time YAP was counting 58 positives and 2 piggies by 25/11! And this YAP was ahead in votes for quite some time. So it is a cheat! Trick and cheat by the C64 people in Pouet :P
