Also... german humour ? is that a joke ?
;D
Sinon on a enfin une section Frenchiaise et c'est tout ce que l'on en fait ?
Yes, it's about different slangs. The boys take a mouth spray to change their slang, but then it turns out that the girls speak what the boys spoke before. So all in vain, and nobody knows how long the slang-enhancer mouth spary will last.
oh yeah, we have this thing, you eat maroilles cheese in order to speak with a nord accent (have to put some in your armpit too),
or you drink one-to-five Pastis in order to have the exagerated Marseilles accent...
Pastis helped me a lot in the Alsace. :)

Ok that was funny but nobody who doesn't speak fluent German and know the dialects will understand the joke.
@MacDeath (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=221): Yes there are, where I live it is not uncommon to see waitresses dressed up like that.

Get a roommate from Brazil and you will learn more quick. :)
Too late, my better half is Brazilian and that's why I learn Portuguese to be better able to communicate when visiting family ;)
Once we were 3 months staying in Brazil and that was the biggest leap in my language skills by far :D
Sorry for dragging the thread Offtopic :picard:
Could be worse, I married a Ch'ti :D
I'll let our French members explain what that is :)

The french system is really great for learning foreign language... You understand nothing ? Don't care we will continue to do the courses that only 4 people in the room can nearly follow.

No, the traditional Bavarian White Sausage. It has to be eaten before noon. :)
Can I get Schweinshaxe instead ;)

There is a really big advantage in the case of Weisswurst. As TFM told, you have to eat it before noon and it really requires that you drink some Weißbier at the same time. Prost und hoch die Tassen. 8)
Weisswurst, Haxe, Kartoffelsalat and Bier... Glad to see we got such a French vibe going on here. It's like being in Paris :D
Bryce.
Besides, there's still hardcore Bavarians who will tell you that you cannot eat the Weißwurst as any other normal Wurst but have suck on one end (zuzeln). ;)
Ok... so, after all this constructive dialogue, should I lock the thread? Should I delete it? Should I delete the French section? Should I add more sections and pray?
It doesn't look like the French section is going to be seriously used. Remove it.

Unsure if it's significant, but I didn't notice too many French Sites in Top Sites. Genesis8 is there, but no CPC-Power or CPC-Rulez and I would of thought those sites would be pulling in the Masses.
There are quite a lot of french forums up and running actually, at cpcrulez, demoniak's, ast, amstradeus, and probably a few more I'm not even aware of. And of course there is also the cpc-fr mailing list at yahoo groups.
It seems the french people prefer to post in french in the middle of an english discussion, and other people prefer to speak german or english in the french section of the forum. So much for categorizing by language, then.
...*sigh*
Ok.
Gaeilge (native language)
English (Second native language)
German (Third language)
French (Basic)
Dutch (Basic)
Afrikaans (Basic)
Japanese (Very basic, still learning)
Plus I have some limited Swedish, Danish, Hungarian, Turkish and Icelandic from working or living in those countries.
That should be enough, I have officially stopped trying to learn new languages from now on :)
Bryce.
Really good article on the future of languages
What the World Will Speak in 2115 - WSJ (http://www.wsj.com/articles/what-the-world-will-speak-in-2115-1420234648)
English, French and Greek here. Can understand a little Italian and Spanish. Also: Geek.
english, français, türkçe, un poco de español
would like to learn greek!
Français
Engrish
bits ein klein wenig Deutsch (mostly some basic vocabulary, but really peoples, Declansions are such a pain nach der arsch)
and few words of other Latin linguae here and there... (yeah, sometime you can understand roughly what spanish or italians or even Portuguesh are vaguely talking about)
Sadely I totally forogot 1/4 of my roots as I don't speak any word of Polish...
:'(
(this would have helped me a lot with declensions I guess)
Quote- Français (langue maternelle)

Portuguese are quite common in french and they always impress me : they quite always still speak it well even if 3rd generation in France...
They can always have flawless french accent at 2nd generation, they would often marry among themself and keep a strong dual culture...
But first generation Portuguesh would alway keep a strong freaking accent... which is normal after all... you have to keep your roots.
Portuguesh are really one of the peoples who are the most "compatible" with french culture IMO.

I can read and understand a bit of several other languages.
English and basic German. Although my wife can speak English and fluent Italian, as one half her family are from Italy.
What I've noticed, is if you live somewhere for six or so months, you pick it up really easily. Especially the swear words.
