WinAPE can record AVI movies.
WinCPC can do also, I think.
JavaCPC can record animated GIF scenes or Quicktime MOV format (Without sound!)

WinCPC has a Wave and YM recorder. WinApe is what I used.

MESS can record uncompressed AVI files and WAV files also.  You can process it through your favourite video converter after (like avidemux or similar).  You'll need a fair amount of disk space, though (and not using FAT32 will help, also).

Oopss... Did not see your question.
Well, JavaCPC cannot record real videos.
It can record animated GIFs or MOV quicktime movies (Without sound!!!)

Both are coded in Java.

Both store many 1000 frames as single bitmaps into a temp. folder and convert them after recording to GIF or MOV.
