Anaglyph:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_3D

it's 3d using those red/cyan classes.

I remember there was a french game that used this, can anyone remember the name and give me a link to it on cpc-power?

Another thing.

I tried to find colours that worked on the cpc, and with my plus monitor, which is ageing, I couldn't find any.
I presume it should be ink 6 (bright red) and ink 19?? (bright cyan).

In basic, set the background to black, set pen 1 to bright red.

Move the glasses over the colour, with red side it should show through, with cyan it should be black/invisible.
Change ink to cyan, with red it should be black/invisible, with cyan it should be visible.

Ink 3 seemed to work better for red, but none seemed to work perfectly for cyan.

Has anybody got those 3d glasses and an amstrad colour monitor they can test it on?

Is it my monitor, or is the amstrad colour palette not quite correct.

Also, anybody know what the gamma is for the Amstrad monitor, would it be 2.2 like standard televisions?

Thanks.

You're making a Rubix Cube?
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D * And create my own ;)
* Incorporating the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

Oooo, a 3D game!!! If you use pure green and pure red it should work fine.

Wanderer 3D or Relief Action? (there also was Bad Max using red/blue glasses, but it's "3D effect" was reaaally bad)

You mean I get a free migraine with your 16kb game?

It's got my vote then.  :D

it will be an option in the menu. headache on/off

I've got it working already in my code base.

Bryce is probably more correct,  red/green may be a better glasses choice, but they are less common. Alternatively green and magenta may work better.
May put an option in to let the user choose which colour of headache they want.

To work with the glasses I had, I had to use "bright red" and "bright blue" and "bright magenta" where it overlaps, drawing using OR mode.

The lines appear in a shade of purple at the moment when wearing the glasses. The effect does work but it's not as perfect as I had wanted.
Got some more ideas to improve it though ;)

Regarding the color choice, have you tried white background as in  cpc.sylvestre.org/articles/articles_pages_relief_action.html

My initial experiment with analglifix that I did a few years ago!

I guess it is the best solution, as depending to the glasses and the monitor, some colours may be better (closer to the glasses ones) than others.

Could be great with PLUS actually...

Better palette to chose from, also some Hard sprite foreground layer/patches effects...

Another question : could mode0 be used too?
On the Plus but actually also on the old, I guess some other effects could be done thx to the extended on-screen palette.
(darker or lighter hues of the glasses...

are you sure it is rightly spelled?

This said, don't you think it would be cool to try to use this for a demo or slideshow on CPC?
From what I think, not sure the C64 is well compatible with existing glasses...(because they don't exist in Grey+Brown...)
Also because of the attribute based display, you can't get 320x200 resolution compatible with this.
The same on Spectrum too... hahaha, a nice way to get those attribute-fags rage in envy against our beloved CPC.
Sucks to be you, Colourclashman.

Guess the CPC could keep and edge on this thing.

Do you know where can we find such glasses?
Lunettes anaglyphes, red-cyan glasses
ok not sure easy to get it, but imagine a demoscene megaparty where you would come with a nice Anaglyphic Demo on CPC and a crate of cheap Anaglyph glasses...
would surely bring some fun in the event or give idea for other scener (on more modern machines) to play with this.

==x100 cheap ones = 40€uros
==x500 = 200€uros... and so on... ok, would cost a bit more, I guess it would be better to sell them. (like 50cents...)

magenta+green seem cheaper.

arnoldemu

I find red/cyan are common to find especially with kids magazines.

I looked at sylvestre's site. White is too bright for me. The combinations are good. I will try some out.
I will also try to add more colour. I already use mode 0, so the other colour combinations could work well to add more colours to the 3d effect.

The 3d effect is not the only mode, there will be a standard mode that doesn't need the glasses.

According to the instruction manual for Wanderer, you are supposed to press 1 to toggle the 3D effect, but it seems that it doesn't work. :(

For Relief Action, you need to select the "RELIEF" command from the menu using the joystick. (Relief Action is well worth trying out, by the way.)

MacDeath

try shift+1 or f1 then ? french keyboard?

arnoldemu, if you can give the option to choose the colours, it would be amazing.

Because i made a few experiments a few years ago and the best results were when i used yellow and blue glasses (Colour Code 3D, the same glasses used for the 3D episode of Chuck and the superbowls ads of a few years ago).

These is one of my tests ;)
