Hi,
what are the best basic games from your opinion (old or new) ?
As I just added at least CPCBasicTS unchained by Marco Vieth on my web site, it's time to let people play these games directly without an emulator.
What was the one that looked pretty impressive and spanned multiple issues in a magazine back in the day?
For me it's definitely that qbert clone from Your Computer. Because it blew my mind back in the day.

Ooh I remember that - I guess it was republished in Greece. A really great port.

It's been republished in quite a few magazines according to CPC-POWER. ::) In fact, a plagiarised version called
Jumpman was even published commercially in the UK by Blaby Computer Games (https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&num=1223)!

I thought the recent release of
Gold Maze (https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&num=19392) was really impressive for a BASIC game.
I think Steve Davis Snooker was written completely in BASIC. It didn't have really fancy graphics or anything, but the physics were quite convincing and it was definitely a game that I kept coming back to.
Bryce.
Now I remember! Football Manager is also in Basic, non? And it's one hell of a good game.
My two cents

Not polite to post an own game, but I really think it's good

Depends if poked machine code is allowed!
As it's to be used on my web site with CPCBasicTS unchained which transform locomotive basic in javascript, poke isn't possible.
back in days i liked "san pablo", a manager like
Wasn't Coolbox written in Basic?
Love this games.
Amsgolf is fun and was amazing if you were a kid. Those nature graphics with those little trees, rivers and bridges have a special charm to them:

I really enjoyed it, Coolbox is really impressive!
Football Manager from Addictive Games, of course . 30 Kbytes of pure BASIC!
Ok gold maze wasn't working due to wordwrap when I did paste the basic program inside the javascript file !
But even after updating the file and a a CTRL + F5, my web navigator was still loading the bad listing. I had to make firefox forget the web site to load the new file...
Now I will with time add some more basic programs on the web site, directly in the database page of the programs.
CPCBasicTS is really nice.

I prefer to use CPCBasicTS with non commercial programs, especially in this case as Kevin Toms (https://twitter.com/KevinToms) is selling his game on Android for example. And I dislike doing something without asking the person first.
Well I can try to ask him on twitter, omw.
Recently, my favourite game in Basic (mostly), is also a manager.., the remake of The Manager (https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&num=18779)
(about:invalid)
Just discovered that
The Wild Bunch from Firebird was also made in Basic. Not the best but not a bad game either considering it was a budget release from the very beginning.

Holy crap! I knew the "Schneider CPC International" type-in version, a friend of mine was very studious and did a lot of type-ins, this one included. I was not aware that it was a rip-off! Makes you wonder how many of the seemingly genuine type-ins actually were stolen :-/
