Retro Asylum 8 Bit Wars

Couple of the usual suspects: AMC, Turrican 1/2, Mr. Heli, West Bank, Conbat School, Werewolves of London, Ikari Warriors, Batman the Movie, Robocop Dr. Destructo, Bomb Jack & Arcanoid, donno if they fit the categories thou. Also these may have been done a lot already  "aka lets compare Chase HQ once again" may be a bit repetitive.


So here is a few alternatives ive enjoyed: N.e.x.u.s, Elevator Action, Sai Combat, Mission Genoside, Ninja Scooter Simulator, Crazy Cars 3, After The War, Satan, Death Wish 3, Lightforce, Phantis, Dragons Lair 2 & Silkworm. These may not win any awards, but i think they all has that "easy to jump into" vibe going fun (casual) gameplay

But do they (Retro Asylum) actually try the games in the 8 bit wars? I haven't had that impression hearing the banter(?) in the first two 8 bit wars podcasts. It would be nice if all of them actually sat down and played every game a couple of hours on real hardware before the show

One of the Get Dexter games might be worth considering for the arcade adventure category, as they're only available on the Amstrad (in terms of 8-bit formats). They're not to everyone's taste but they are generally well regarded.

Yes - they usually play the games in order to make a judgement, though I think there may have been a couple of times when they had watched a video.

I think in some of the episodes one of the hosts (Chris O'Regan) streamed all the games for most formats using real hardware.

Anyway, this is for the laughs and not super-serious. It helps to promote the CPC though.

Sorry, I should have been clear: it's only commercially released during the system's life that counts.  So, unfortunately, Reidrac, I can't choose your or any other homebrew / indie games (shame, I'd have won for sure  ).

When is the system's life?  Mine still works? or was it up to the last unit that rolled off the floor of Amstrad's manufacturing?  CPC still get's commercial games too so, isn't it still alive?

Bad Cat, Combat School or the already mentioned Panza Kick Boxing are games I like.

Although I'm not sure about your definition of "sport games".

3D Pool (it seems better on the CPC than the other versions), but not sure if that would be classified more of a game than a sport?It's a tricky one as the C64 has so many strong contenders in Football, Tennis, Karate and not forgetting the legendary Speedball.
