So, last night I was asked on Twitter, what are any Conan-like games for the CPC?
Great question. I could only think of Barbarian, which is strange given the easy and popular premise. Am I forgetting something?
Barbarian II ? :)
Bryce.
Haha yeah, that was my second guess, too :D
Taito's Rastan and Psygnosis' Hegor the Barbarian come to mind.
Several text adventures might qualify as sword-and-sorcery stories, too.
Ahhh yes, Psygnosis' Barbarian, was trying to remember the title (duh). Completely forgot about Rastan though!
The mighty Targhan!

Savage perhaps? The cover and part 3 does feel very Conan.
Always felt that Rygar, Black Tiger, Beyond the Icepalace, He-Man & Thundercats was kinda all borrowing from Conan.
Of cause MYTH History in the Making actually is Conan on the NES. Probably ported over the C64 version as i heard they have compatible hardware & just changed the main sprite. Didnt even bother remapping the keys, so the poor NES players has been complaining ever since about the odd controls (down to jump up etc). Also "why is the first stage so complex & cryptic" .. well, who knows ;)
Why no one ported this one :

And also Fighting Warrior...

You forgot Golden Axe !
Maybe The Prayer of the Warrior?

I know it wasn't released in the eighties/nineties, but still pretty much Conan-like! ;D

Maybe The Prayer of the Warrior?
I've not seen this one before. I'm not a huge fan of Mode 1 graphics but this looks well done and I'd quite like to play it.
The already mentioned Barbarian games, Rastan and Golden Axe were what I tended to play after watching the old Arnie Conan films. Particularly during Barbarian 2 I would try to imitate Arnie's voice and shout things like "CROM!" when getting annoyed or killed a lot in it. Which happened quite a lot. :P
