Convert this to CPC+

How about someone convert the Blues Brothers to CPC+. Its a great game, but it looks bad. It could look so much better with more colours and better backgrounds. Anyone up for it?

If you really want to use plus features [nb]soft scrolling, DMA sound, sprites, raster interrupt, enhanced memory mapping, maybe analogue joystick etc.[/nb] and not only the palette, then it would be more a less a new game started from scratch - disregarding the GFX, which could be used to have something to start with, and maybe parts of the game engine & loader.

issue with those "blue hue" mode1 games that were produced on CPC...


The 3 shades of blue are too close to each others...


That's better because more contrast. but should use white instead of bright cyan or pastel cyan...


Also better, because it use Black and white.

Sadly many of tose games should have used a more CGA like palette...

Blues Brothers could be upgraded just by a simple hack :
Fix the palette and remove the "white halo" aroud the sprites...

this White halo is too much spectrum-like IMO...

Funy but i see some similarities between hudson hawk and Midnight resistance...




Would they share a comon engine ?


Ok, I guess the sprites for BluesBros are coded in 2bpp and use one ink for the mask, hence in 3 colours "only".
Would look better if the dark blue would be changed into "black" instead... for the sprites.

Did a few tries.

Anyway, the tiles could use a bit more ditherings here and there...
