Djbunyan

Hello! Does anyone know how to get the game "Zub" to start on GX4000 using c4cpc? it says press "p" to start game, but the gx4000 controller doesn't seem to have that?

Djbunyan

Disregard* I was looking at the wrong thing lol Thanks!

Yes, usually when we indicates the "P" key on screen, it refers to the pause button on the console 8)

Sometimes a classic gem rises that can be converted to GX4000. This time, it's for:

TIME SCANNER from Activision

This patch has been possible thanks to the Crackers Velus that kindly cracked the original game to provide us the cleanest version possible to patch this fantastic game 8) . And of course @Urusergi patched all the keys to make this flipper game 100% pad friendly. Oh, and you'll enjoy music while playing on 128Kb systems, just as the original release :D .

Controls:
J1 LEFT = Left flip
J1B2 = Right flip
J1 RIGHT = Left tilt
J1B1= Right tilt
J1 UP = Tilt up
Pause button = Pause/unpause
Pause button + J1 DOWN (while game is in pause) = Quit game

Highscore table:
J1 LEFT (Left flip) = Go left in the character selector
J1B2 (Right flip) = Go right in the character selector
J1 UP (Tilt up) = Next character
J1B1 = Direct restart game

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - On screen text modified,
    - All game keys patched,
    - Pokes: Infinite ball, start table selector.

Quote from: aranya on 19:53, 19 May 24Hello, first of all, thank you for your awesome work.
I own a GX4000 with a C4CPC flashcart and I have just found this site.
I played some games yesterday and all worked perfectly except for one, Operation Alexandra. When I load the game, I can only watch the intro, but it sounds very bad (I guess it is not the right music), and it is impossible for me to start and play the game.

Thank you!

Quote from: iXien on 20:09, 19 May 24Weird, I just tried Operation Alexandra, downloading it from the list, version 1.1. And it perfectly works on my own GX4000. Maybe your micro-sd card, it's format? The CPR seems ok.
Quote from: aranya on 20:17, 19 May 24Mmmm, I loaded the game from the full set and not from the list.
Maybe this is the problem.
It was the only game that I had problems with, and I played Cabal, Commando, 1943, Satan, Navy Moves, etc.

Tell us if it works better from the list, maybe the file in the fullset is bugged or outdated. Strange and highly improbable but certainly not impossible  8)
Well, it was already the same file in the fullset and on the webpage, so it's not where the problem come from.

Many thanks @remax for all the work needed to add the lines in the list, create the fullset file, and correct my little oversights :P

Here a link to the post of the last game included in this update: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?msg=248594

It's time to do the accounts. This year, 51 commercial CPC games have been patched and 24 homebrew games have been patched or officially released compatible with the GX4000. In addition, 5 games have been updated (including an official one) to offer better experience on GX4000 ;)

Two things caught my attention this year. The first is that retrogamers who emulate the CPC are starting to use these patched versions, because even for emulation they offer the comfort of "all joypad", sometimes even in improved versions of the games. The second is that more and more homebrew games benefit from a 100% joypad gameplay and in cartridge format from their initial release. This shows that developers are now thinking more and more about the GX4000, or at least about playing with a 2-button controller and without the help of the keyboard.

It is now 933 different games you can play on GX4000, commercial or homebrew games, including the 25 official releases. For me it's unbelievable :o

And we continue for a new year of patches with this first one from @Urusergi :

JAIL BREAK from Konami

Controls:
d-pad = Move
J1B1 = Fire
J1B2 = Swap weapon

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Title screen from the C64 version of the game, recolored by iXien,
    - Wait for fire on title screen,
    - All game keys patched,
    - Pokes: Infinite lives, Invulnerability (only enemy bullets, not enemy themselves), less enemies on screen, all 3 weapons active from start.

This weekend, we come with an upgrade for a fabulous game, thanks to @Urusergi :D :

IMPOSSAMOLE from Gremlin

The version from @Phantomz is perfectly functional (and is also included in this new archive), but I found it would be interesting to offers maintaining the up direction to jump to use the fire button 2 to use the extra power. As bonuses, I made a conversion of the ST/Amiga title screen, and there is a version with ingame black borders 8)

Controls:
J1UP = Jump / Climb ladders
J1DOWN = Go down ladders
J1B1 = Punch/Fire
J1B2 = Super power (kill all enemies on screen, only one per level)
Pause button = Pause/unpause game
J1B2 + Pause button (while game is already in pause) = Quit game

Features :
    - New title screen based on the ST/Amiga version, converted and recolored by iXien
    - Wait for fire on title screen.
    - Two versions: Original blue border and black border ingame
    - All game keys patched,
    - Poke : Invulnerability (new energy gauge each time it's empty)

Ok, next one, of course converted by @Urusergi :

PSYCHO HOPPER from Mastertronic

Controls:
d-pad = Move
J1B1 = Fire
Pause button = Pause (twice to quit game)

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Two versions: 64k (stock GX4000), 128K (6128Plus and expanded GX4000/464Plus)
    - Wait for fire on title screen,
    - PPI port implementation incompatibility fixed
    - All game keys patched,
    - Pokes: Infinite lives and time.

The twists with this one is that we had to fix the "Plus" system compatibility and above all the 128K detection is broken in the original game. We had to make two separate CPR files you'll choose depending in your configuration. Anyway, the 64K version is already perfectly working on our stock GX4000  8)

Can you imagine that this one had never been patched :o :

A.M.C. from Dinamic

Many thanks to @Urusergi for this one, it's a real pleasure to play it full joypad friendly on our beloved GX4000 8)

Controls:
J1B1 = Fire
J1B2 = Grenades
J2B1 = Quit game
Pause button = Pause/unpause game

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Wait for fire on title screen,
    - Unuseful options removed from main screen,
    - No password required on part 2,
    - Password information removed in the end of part 1,
    - All game keys patched,
    - Pokes : Invulnerability, unlimited lives, bombas and time.

Yes, there is no password to lock part 2. but isn't the lack of practice in playing part 1 before starting part 2 the best obstacle? :P

And another one at the initiative from @Urusergi :D :

METROPOLIS from The Power House

Controls:
J1B1 = Jump

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Wait for fire on title screen,
    - Unuseful options removed from main screen,
    - All game keys patched,
    - Pokes : Invulnerability or unlimited lives.

I love all these action adventure games in mazes  8)
