I think this would be a good idea. Defense games are my favorite on my Android phone, and thankfully there are many great titles out there.
Could it be done on the CPC? Not sure if mode 0 would be enough, but other than that it would be cool... Maybe the number of small sprites would pose a difficulty, but Lemmings did it right :)

It's a great idea and with the AMX mouse reborn in 2012, now is time to consider this kind game and others with similar "tactile" interface.

Who is gonna call dibs over a CPC version of "Plants vs Zombies" ?  ;D

Gryzor

Plants vs Zombies is the simplest form of Defense games, but this would be great, too!

I took a look at it. What so you need for it?

- 100 sprites with priority! (not like in Lemmings)
- Some giant sprites

What does the CPC provide:

- Quick & smooth scrolling
- Wondeful colors

So, what's about a CPC Plants vs. Zombies? Well, must be a pain to code it! Therefore it's interesting to code it. Ok, yes. And then everybody complains that it needs 128 KB and an advanced OS

However, sometime I think people don't really know the limitations of our system. Guys, watch more CPC games ;-)

I dont think you need huge sprites - far from it. 100 seems to be too much, too; 100 is probably a very high figure for an entire wave, but not on he screen all together...

You never coded a game by yourslef, did you? Also Plus sprites will not help here at all.

Even in demos nobody ever used more than 30 sprites at a time. And a demo is very different from a game. I don't tell it's impossible. But let's put it that way a conversion of Tron Legacy is _as_ possible ;-)

Huh? No, I've not coded a game, but what I said, if you read it carefully, is that you DON'T need 100 sprites.

TFM

I doubt a bit. Maybe 100 is not even enough. However, the idea itself - even if it seems to be hard to realize on CPC - becomes more and more fascinating. Especailly if one thinks about changing the game a bit to use more of the strength of the CPC.

100 is a high number. I've played Defense games with very few sprites. It's all about how you pace it and how you design it. Sure, many Defense games are bullet hells, but they don't need to be, especially with a low-res crowded playing area.
