Title: Fres fighter II no turbo
Post by: Lazy Dude on 16:03, 03 October 14
Looks like a great game. Works on Cap32 emu. Does not like working on the real thing  :(
So I use CPCdiskxp to drop ff_ab onto a floppy and fire it up on the 6128. It runs the demo/ intro ok but fails to load the game. Any ideas?

Obviously your transfer fails. It runs on my CPC very well.
Maybe you should try to use SS-DSKs.  :)

whats that, single sided disks?

Yes, single sided DSKs. Usually about 0.2 MB in size. They should work. You can make them on an emulator, then test them on the emu and finally transfer to CPC.

The game was 100% developed on a real CPC. No cheating  ;)

well its got me stumped, I have tried allsorts of options and its still not working. Is the idea to split the FF_AB.DSK file into the two sides of a floppy head 1 & head 2 ?

Would you need 3 or 3.5 inch disc?

3.5" . I take it you have it working normally like the rest of the world does!

Out of interest @Lazy Dude (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=532) Which images did you use. Initially I used the ones from CPC-POWER and these seem to have the issues you described. Out of interest I then downloaded the images from Bollaware and these work fine... Oddly enough those from CPC-POWER seem to work just fine in an HxC.

Most wierd, but if you want them posted just PM me your address, if you want to try the bollaware archives I downloaded them from here

Fres Fighter II Turbo (http://www.bollaware.de/fresfighter.html)

and wrote them with CPCDiskXP. Let me know if you need copies.

Hey, thanks for the time to help me out. I got the downloads from the Bollaware site and I also used CPCdiscXP to put onto a floppy with A on one side B on the other. (never got as far as C&D!)
When I load onto the CPC the A side with start screen and intro works, but then after that it spits out an error message.
With your floppies do you get an on screen prompt to insert side B?

Hang on to those floppies for me, I may just go for that option!

Cheers.   :)

no prompt for side b no, as the loader works for double sided drives, it does prompt for side c when starting a game.

CPC GAME REVIEWS - F (http://www.cpcgamereviews.com/f/index7.html#fres_fighter_2_turbo)

and like you say on cpc power.

And if I can't play Fres fighter I'll have to go outside and beat someone up instead!! Then I'll ask nicely for the disks   :D

Do you have parados installed. It seems that it does not play nice with the dual sided loader on this game, I needed to swap my 6128 plus cart from my own Parados 1.1 to a standard Amsdos cart to work.

Well, I took the DSKs from Bollawares homepage, put em on 3.5" inch discs and they worked from the beginning. 1 Minute of work.  :)

Sometime you just have bad luck.  :-\
