Title: Gauntlet 1&2
Post by: VincentGR on 20:06, 29 July 20
Do these games have an end?

I really want to play them for years now but I hate games with infinite levels (ok maybe hundreds)

My experience on the speccy with tape is that there's no end: the tape ends, you don't have more levels (it had 109 or something like that, as far as I can remember).

No, there's no end.  Once you hit the end of the tape, you can rewind to the start of the level data and continue on.  Not sure about the disk version, but likely the same.

Thank you all.

So maybe the disk version has 256 levels?

AFAIK, when I remember my original Gauntlet box, the disk version has 512 levels. But they mirror the maps so in real there should be 128 different maps.

For Gauntlet I, the deeper dungeons, there was a competition, where users could submit maps. This was also 512 levels.
