I hope this becomes an actual game
The author says he's a software engineer and has been a dream to make Mario on the 464 since he was a child.
I hope that's enough motivation to finish this
That is 20% of a game! Keep it going! :)
Dear Lord!!!
Amazing.
This is only 1 percent of the game. Wait for iMPaCT's Mario+ featuring fullscreen, parallax scrollers, dma song, and so on....
if Mario+ is only for cpc+ i'm not interested.
this mario for cpc classic gets my attention!
will the programmer post here?

Cannot wait to see this!
Looks like its using hardware character scrolling, which would be too fast for Mario. One of the problems with trying to do SMB on the CPC is that you not only need very responsive scrolling, but it also needs to be variable speed and that's a lot trickier without pixel perfect hardware scrolling.
A Plus machine could do it easily of course.

Every CPC can do that too. I do it with my Giana clone, it's hardware scrolling - and overscan (not speccy screen size). Download it from my homepage and enjoy smooth scrolling [nb]However there are some jerks seldomly when cpu time runs out, because soundtrakker player needs too much scanlines. This will be fine in the final version imho.[/nb]

Of course Mario+ will only be developped on Cpc+ Platform. Sorry if you're concerned by cpc+, but, it's my only cpc computer.

I kept the english question & answers in english at the buttom for the non spanish speakers :)
We need a top gear cool wall on here for games in the making!
This one is cool, and I wish its creator well.

Yeah, advertising these sorts of projects prior to release will get the attention of the legal eagles at the Big N. Better to develop it quietly & then spring it on the world. That way if they shut it down, the game is still out there.
I remember Ocarina of Time 2D & many other projects that suffered this fate. Surprised that Mario Bros X is still up actually...

I am suprised it's not been told to shut down.
You can't say it's ok to make a version just because somebody else has (so-far) got away with it.
It's a protected franchise that is actively in use.
Of course, you can do something with a similar style as long as it's not too close.
There was a well known remake back in the day that got in trouble.
maybe if it's fan based, free to download, no money involved then it's ok??
I wouldn't risk doing anything to infringe Nintendo copyright personally. They have shut down many fan-games and then there's all that stuff about going after player's youtube videos of Nintendo games.
Perhaps it can be Super Roland Bros starring a very Mario-esque moustached incarnation of Roland. :P
I like the sound of Super Roland Bros.
What a twist that Roland has a brother.
Personally I'd carry on.
As much as nintendo are dicks I'd wait and see if they care or notice this.
This is the kind of thing that will get the younger generation looking at the older machines and wanting to tinker with them. My 9-year-old son is a big fan of Mario, he also loves all things retro and has been tinkering with my CPC6128 and his dad's Speccy. If seeing this stuff makes him even more eager to play with all kinds of programming languages because he can see that whatever he wants to do can be done if only you put in a bit of time and effort them I am a happy person.
which is of course what you can' t do with a Playstation or Xbox etc...
Get an Amstrad, get learning to program, it's the future....!
Remember that amiga smurf game a while ago?
But why using mode 1 ???
See the Divine megademo menu. Used mode 0 gfx and it's really better

I knew that someone would cry for graphics on mode 0!!
it is a matter of time that anybody will start asking things to a game programmer!
He told in the interview that plans to have all the 32 levels! music, sprites... this is a HUGE work.
If he wants to do it in mode 1, let him do it in mode 1, is better this than nothing (like we have now)
To me is not important mode 0, mode 1 or even mode 2!!
we are talking about Mario bros on CPC, leave the programmer alone and pray that the project will be finished!!

Same too with Mario Bros

The MODE 1 advantage is to be able to reuse directly the original sprites and tiles.
I like the idea to be in black & white (like Gameboy) with a coloured background contrast.
That allow to be focussed on the gameplay code when you work alone.
I usually prefer resolution over color... and I think that the B&W is nice here :). Don't get me wrong, the Mode 0 graphics of the demo are really great but I see the point of re-using the original sprites.

Please yes, do agree Sir! :) :) :)
Even if they got a problem, just upload the finished game to the well know FTPs and keep real names out of the code, use your nick or pseudo.
But honestly, we're talking CPC here - sorry, but imho that's miles under the radar.
Of course if somebody would be that _not-so-smart_ and directly ask them, then this would draw their attention to us. But as long as you don't ask, nobody can say no. ;) :)
